Slowing for bumps on a mountain road is so over rated. :pac:

    The mightiest 16v Twincam ever.
It even ran after I put it through the fence on that horrible slippy road. :p

They are 5zigen fn01r-c. Great wheels for the money. With the crash that car took id say anything cheaper would have shattered. one of them got fairly badly bent but the rest are all still perfectly usable.
Still have two of them siting out my back for spares.

I just clicked the youtube link in your signature and watched the video collecting the Latvian 316. Omg that was so funny. I will just let some pressure out and the thing steaming like a mad thing,

116bhp at the wheels with a mild turn of the pump. Standard at the time, along with the turbo. I can get the torque figure later!

I never got it dyno'd with the big turbo and pump :(

Do you reckon the pump and turbo increased it much?

Found a very glamorous parking spot in Longford.
Thought it be a shame not to take a snap. Gloomy area made the car stand out nicely.

Long time no chat. Hope everyone's keeping well.

5000km in my ownership and not a wash outside yet. Still looks well for a boring wagon!

Some idiot reversed into the front of the car with what looks like a toe bar damaged the plate and the far side of the grill. Not visible in the picture have a new one ordered.

Had the pleasure of driving this little beast for the last 3 days over in England,
Just when I thought the Mercedes E-Class couldn't get any better, they just made it better.

I've driven many previous iterations about 10-15 times over the last 2 years (E350 AMG Sport Coupé was just dirty), and thought them a stunning car to drive, but this new one (E220d), they've improved on perfection!

Looks wise, she's almost a cross between a C-Class & an S-Class, but I'm not too interested in the exterior anymore, it's inside where it counts.

Yes, that is a 9 speed auto box (which changes smoother than a babies arse) (80mph @ 1500 rpm)

    29984967356_2405d906c7.jpg

The interior was lovely, no stupid C-class screen sticking up out of the dash, looking like it was just bolted on last minute,

and it had this very cool light effect around the trim & under the seats, that could be dimmed, and set to any colour you liked. I have to admit, it looks cool as F**K. (the pictures really don't do it justice)

The only downside was this particular one didn't have the Sat Nav installed, which is odd, as the last 10-15 Mercs Hertz have given me all had it as standard, but it didn't take away from the overall car, which was just a cracking drive (Eco, Comfort*, Sport & Sport+ mode)

*Comfort mode (which is the default) could be customised so you could still have the sport steering and or suspension without the sport engine performance.

    Would I buy one: Yes
Could I buy one: Probably No.

And to keep the thread relevant, here is my own beast awaiting her NCT retest 2 weeks ago (failed on rear bushings, which was no surprise, as they were an advisory on last years test, so had her out to Valdas for new bushings & control arms, and she's as good as new now)

Lovely looking machine those wheels are horrid though, the last few Rental cars in Europe have all been Mercs their new interiors are savage. There's no 220d worthy of the tag 'beast' though :)

She had all the power I needed anyway.

In the few situations I put my foot down in anger, she shifted me where I wanted to be.

9 speed auto should make the most of it in fairness.
