I think Bob’s stuff is good, he puts a lot of time into editing the video, I can see that from knowing what is involved. Gets very healthy numbers on his channel too. Not sure if you’ve seen his Type R review but he was saying he’d have a Golf R over it any day.

On the unbiased thing, there’s a lot of Irish motoring journalists who will work for a publisher or website and they will have more freedom in terms of being brutally honest. If you’re taking a car directly from a brand it’s a bit trickier if you slate a car and you’ve to go back to that same person for something else then again but not everyone will be upset. Not saying it should be that way, the manufacturers wear very long trousers so should be fine with it but sometimes as humans we take things more personally than we should.

I’m only doing it for fun anyway, I’ve a normal full time job which is nothing motor related so I’m just enjoying driving a mix of stuff.

    I didn’t spec it :)

Deffo needs the DSG and deffo needs the 190bhp.

That looks very well indeed. My missus (to be) has her heart set on one to replace the 1er in a few years.

Be interested to hear your view of this. We are looking to trade the Superb Combi up to a Kodiaq 190 DSG at the beginning of 2019.

Chaser? Not sure. Reg lookup only says Toyota/petrol/red and 2016 (really? )

    Dashcam stills only, unfortunately. :(

I think it needs the 4X4, to put it into context, I was beside an X5 today and there really isn’t anything in it size wise. I pulled out of a junction and gave it full beans today and the thing was just planted to the road, I’m not sure it would’ve felt as confident in FWD doing that. The steering could give a bit more feedback and it feels too light at low speeds but for the customer that the car is truly aimed at, they’re going to really love it. Having had all the BMWs I’ve had, I could absolutely live with one of them for a while and I think that speaks volumes. Interior isn’t a BMW but it feels like a well built tank.

I'm a bit lost on the Kodiak pricing. It's similar money to a Tiguan AllSpace, but the VW comes with more kit. I thought Skoda was supposed to be the better value proposition?

What kind of extra stuff out of curiosity? It’s definitely expensive, lots of people won’t put 40/50k and Skoda in the same sentence. That is VRTs issue more than Skoda’s sadly. I’d argue the same for a VW though. They’re not premium cars but the prices don’t always reflect that.

Digital dash, lane assist, park assist, keyless entry, power opening boot, driver personalisation, heated seats, adaptive cruise, HUD and rear camera all come on the Tiguan AllSpace Highline which is the same price as Kodiaq Sportline but are all options on the Skoda from what I could tell.

    Wow
That's some kit on a highline.

A '67 Mini Moke in the wild!

    42153288420_d1b292941a_z.jpg

The owner was just pulling in and had a chat with him. He own it 5 years. It was found in a barn in Cork. It was originally green but someone in the distant past painted it with gloss blue which he was happy to keep. The car needed some work but nothing outlandish- points, filters, battery etc. It needed new wheels and lucky enough he had a set of Leylands that fitted perfect...and I think are brilliant.

    42153289060_33fb3921a0_z.jpg

The back seats are original the front aren't. There's usually a roll cage where the seat belts are fitted so he has waist straps on this.

I joked with him was he off to Halford's to pick up some bling..."I am in me hole" says he...and right he is too.

Some serious kit there. I don’t think the VW looks as good but hard to argue with that list. Perhaps the idea is to keep the cost down on the Kodiaq by not having them. They do have packs too though that add more than one thing to the car, the Kodiaq I’m in doesn’t have blind spot sensors and the Karoq last week did. Amazing how quickly you notice they’re not on a car once you’ve tried it.

Annual charity event called fund racer. They collect for charities by getting people with nice cars to give people a spin around the track for €20.
