Never climbed above 2,500ft over the whole trip.

Will be interesting to see how quiet this area gets once EK suspends operations on the 25th.

Just noticed on Fr24 that there is an IranAir A320 due into DUB from Amsterdam tomorrow afternoon. Is this an evacuation flight for Iranian nationals?

Supposedly a glitch on FR24. It's an aer lingus flight from Amsterdam.

Seen this tonight. Wondering if anyone has any idea where it's heading ?

If you ever see a strange or suspicious listing on FR24, it's useful to cross reference with the airport official arrival/departure listings as FR24 can be totally incorrect more times than you'd think!

It's possible that this is part of the ongoing refurbishment of the QANTAS A380 fleet - they've all been going to Dresden for this.

Granted it's unusual timing given the ongoing crisis, but it may just be that.

Just noticed N163PA GIII heading north over Egypt, if he is USA bound, then he might use Shannon.

    Navigation Aid Calibration I'd say.

I'd say you're right, the Glenteige (GTG) DME in the centre of that circle, just North of Arklow.

Runway in use today is 28, but metar and ATC are giving winds of 06010KT - so a slight tailwind.

Anyone know why the runway direction hasn't been reversed?

I believe they can land with a tailwind component of up to 10kts. What your showing is borderline so if it's not causing an issue, I'd imagine they happily work with it

Probably so, especially with the crosswind component reducing it - however takeoff distances may be affected a little.

I saw an Alitalia A332 taking off out of Dublin earlier, looks like she’s operating a special flight as AZ240. Wonder is it repatriation or medical supplies?

For the next few weeks the only medical supplies will be coming from China.
Every other nation will be trying to protect their stocks.

My understanding around ventilators for example is that Medtronic in Galway makes a sizeable proportion of those in pre-corona supply chains, and are moving from 250 to 500 per week production. Surely we won’t be hanging on to all of them - the HSE are apparently looking for an additional 900 at a rate of 100 per week from suppliers to add to the 500 we started with, so the surplus will go abroad. Ditto all the regular pharmaceuticals we produce and other medical devices. I wouldn’t fancy the backlash if we started hanging on to everything for our stockpile. https://www.irishtimes.com/business/health-pharma/coronavirus-medtronic-aiming-to-make-500-ventilators-a-week-1.4212085

Oddly enough Germany and France has no difficulty in embargoing the export of medical supplies.

OT but if anyone believes that a small island country, highly dependent for its economic wellbeing on the operations of major multinationals, would on the whole do better by blocking exports than encouraging and facilitating continued international commerce, I'd be interested in the evidence for such an approach. Most of what Ireland needs to keep functioning as a stable modern society is imported. This is not the 1930s.
