It's looking like 725 so not really much more at all.

If anyone orders, could they post up here from where they are getting it and how it's been delivered, i.e. Parcel motel.

    Cheers

It will surely follow the thread every year the s6 will be available for around 440 for the next 10 months or so.

When could we expect the S6 price to drop. I need to change my phone very shortly as my S2 is giving me grief.

If you can handle a second hand one, you can pick up a mint conduction S6 from 250-350 on adverts.

Just a quick heads up for anyone that might order the s7 sim free. I just asked a question on the Carphone uk live chat and they said that the gear VR only comes with a phone on contract and no sim free.

It says on the site that it does. He said it is been flagged with marketing and it will be removed.

I'm not sure where to get it sim free. Seems like it won't be coming with a gear VR anyway. Tweeted Samsung Ireland and asked where is selling sim free.

Checked CPW site and they have damn all sim free phones and none of the flagship phones are sim free

Handy 'mistake' for a few hours.

Anyway, being new to Samsungs, where do these normally sell in Ireland Sim free? Do CW eventually stock unlocked ones? I had a pain in the hole getting a G4 from Amazon Italy last year (plus the after worry of shag all warranty) so I'd prefer to buy from a physical Irish shop this time.

    Argos.ie?

What are the chances of being able to pick up one of these on an 18 month contract somewhere. (Or at least with a contract where I can upgrade the handset after 18 months, which I know Vodafone had for a while).

ID mobile have various contracts including 18 months. But when will they have the S7 though? Being owned by CarPhoneWarehouse it should be quite early on you'd imagine.

Looks like import then. I'm Vodafone with work but need unlocked in case I change jobs at any stage, but the fact you've practically no warranty for such a big outlay if you import is off-putting.

Is your issue it being sim locked? I've bought loads of phones on the day they come out, and quite often the first batches aren't sim locked because they're pushing to get them to customers as soon as possible, and don't get the sim lock done.

On top of this, you can sim unlock through the Vodafone website, have done this multiple times. You can also call Vodafone and say you're travelling and need it unlocked for a local sim.

Point being that sim unlocking is simple, and I wouldn't jump through hoops or pay an extra €100 on a device for sim free.

So looking at the coverage it'll be CAT12 LTE On both?

At €700 I think I'll still head to a lesser known brand, last upgrade 16 months ago to a top of the line QHD/801 unit was only €430. Le Max Pro sales start tomorrow rumor has it.

Would have thought Meteor would have it on their site for pre-order this morning. Vodafone and Three had their pre-reg stuff up almost immediately.

Worrying that Meteor don't, and that they said on twitter to me they have no update/info on it at the moment. WOnder if it means they aren't getting it at all as the other two main carriers have their stuff out in the open already. Meteor having nothing indicates they are going to have nothing.

Looks like the VR only comes with billpay preorders:

Eligibility Criteria: This offer is available to new and upgrading Bill Pay customers of Three
Ireland (Hutchison) Limited and Three Ireland Services (Hutchison) Limited (each known as
    “Three”)

That's a shame because the contracts they're offering are terrible.

Just checked the t&c and it seems it's bill pay only for the VR. You would think splashing out 700e would get you a headset

iD mobile just sent me an email with pre order links for the S7 and S7 edge.

Me too, but I get an error when I try to proceed.
Also the information in the page doesn't render at all on chrome on my phone.

Those prices are very reasonable, considering the S6 Edge+ was €800.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 690 ✭✭✭Frankmagnet

What's the chances of the 1st batch of pre pays that come into stores being unlocked? I'm sure I got a few phones before on day one that were unlocked

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,634 ✭✭✭✭errlloyd

In my experience the first phones are always unlocked, gonna go for the ID pre-order I think, but is there a final price available?

Yeah I can't see any mention of the final price? Meaning they could charge whatever the hell the wanted upon release.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 690 ✭✭✭Frankmagnet

I asked in meteor / Emobile store earlier and they said 699 s7 and 799 s7 edge on prepay.

Might chance trying one in the morning of the 11th to see if they are unlocked. Seems no place is doing the gear VR unless it's bill.

If anyone gets one that doesn't want it I'll purchase it for them

You don't have to pay it though, you can just refuse or return.
