So which of these boxes will do the modern 422 feeds?

Or can any of them be used with VLC to get them?

    Thanks in advance.

Wow....All at least 7 year old boxes.

I have a CTech5000 and a Technomate 6900+ much the same box made by the same manufacturer Hubtech in Korea. Excellent boxes and highly sensitive. They now brand as Xtrend (among others).

None of those boxes will handle H264 4.2.2 10 bit feeds (like Tg4's OB's)

You are probably using Enigma 2? You can find the FEC very quickly by System, Service Finder, Satfinder (or Signal Finder or similar). That allows you to field through the FEC and Pilot options, which only takes a short time.

Nearly all feeds are DVB-S2 and 8PSK. Most common FEC is 3/4 and usually Pilot ON.

Signal strength reports would not be much help, unless you knew the location and the size of the dish. Sometimes you see a comment No Signal, which is meaningless without this information. Also different receivers give different readings.

I cant understand the FEC question if people are using E2 receivers and just manual using the signal finder to scan the dvb-s2 channel. You dont need to change it. Also pilot doesn't need to be touched either once set to auto. The only thing you might need to change is the modulation if its QPSK.

I am still on original fw and am used to scrolling through the Fec and pilot options, i have noticed that most are s2 8psk 3/4 and pilot on.
Main issue is that my dish is only 90cm so can only tune some feeds.
As they say size only matters to those that dont have it :D

11515 V is not GAA. Channel name NT Live, encrypted. NT Live is used by the National Theatre in London for cinema feeds, but always FTA and never on 23.5 East before, so it must be something else.

So I see. RTE normally have a high behind camera which is stationary TP frequency and used for crowd zoomed shots/head on and thats what they had on 11525 H initially. But they are now vision mixing live on that frequency!

BTW. You may know this, but as you use one, you might be interested to know that the TBS 5925 can now be added on to E2 boxes as a tuner.

What does this tuner have on the standard tuners in enigma boxes.

Would it let you view 4.2.2 feeds directly on your tv?

I bought an azbox for this a few years back but it was very badly supported by the original manufacturer and the enigma2 software developed for it wasn't really stable enough for everyday use.

Scanning of Multistream channels and ACM/VCM 16APSK/32APSK.

4:2:2 feeds. No, not the H264 10bit ones. Unless the software/hardware on the main unit supports it. Like any tuner it will find them, the decoding is done by the software/CPU/Drivers on the main board though.....software decoding would require high CPU and the right FFMEG compiled for E2, which must be out there.

I am not getting anything on 11545. I get the RTE feed on 11638 but very weak today, 8 dB and breakup.

    Astra 3A-3B (23.5°E)

    Frequency: 11638 - Pol: V - SR: 7120 - FEC: NC

    Category: Sport - Autres

    Transmitted in: MPEG-4

    Comments: Gaelic games/Hurling(s2/hdtv)

GAA Beo feed on 11625 V is also weak 8.8 dB.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,380 ✭✭✭STB.

    @DXhound.

There is a 10 meg spread between 11635 to 11645 with equal power according to my tune earlier. TVM's gear must be off with the bandwidth so wide.

Perfectly watchable, despite being down 20% in strength.

  • Registered Users Posts: 20,896 ✭✭✭✭dxhound2005

You had a typo 11545 instead of 11645.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,380 ✭✭✭STB.

Well spotted. 100 meg sidebands would be something!

Thanks for the reply. I presume the azbox did it through hardware decoding as the CPU's weren't really fast.

    Are many feeds gone 16/32ASPK?

I presume there is the right FFMPG for linux but would a 1.3ghz enigma box be up to the decoding if it was compiled to run in enigma?

Yes hardware, but the Azbox had limitations when it came to H264 422 transport streams.

There are a few APSK feeds, but the TBS cards also handle PLS/Multistream channels like the Mediaset channels which normal tuners don't. There is a good discussion going on on the OpenPLI forum with tuner gurus and coders, with plenty of gratuitous screen shots etc (some are in the Vu 4K thread).

    DX ?

I was away at the game in Cavan. Some nice satellite trucks there.

This one was listed on Satelliweb at 3pm (they are one hour ahead). It doesn't say which game.

Yes I would imagine so. I used to use a Triax 88 for feeds buts that now the stationary.

Its one of two places 23.5E or 0.8W that TVM use.
