    70 litre tank
11.5 miles for a litre would be 800 miles
Multiply by 4.54 would give about 54 mpg which is probably on the optimistic side but possible if you took it handy and did motorway only.

I always noticed if I fill completely the first half on gauge goes slower than 2nd half. It stays showing full for a good while before moving.

But best of luck with the 530d sounds like a super car. Hard to beat a BMW 5 series.
Even though I've flirted with 6 series recently I'd say if it came down to it when it comes to handing over money I'll probably go 5 series for the next few cars anyway. Want an f10 next and already want a g30. And they'll both be 30d cars I would say

400 miles and over half full? Very impressive Bazz. I'm lucky to get 500 from a full tank with motorway driving. On short trips I only get 350-400 out of a full tank.

What type of driving are you doing so far?

Anyone know how much BMW warranty would cost to buy on a 2013 640d that would be coming off 5 year service inclusive.

Have nearly 400 miles done in the 530d since collecting it last Wednesday and loving it. Seriously impressed with the fuel economy so far even after a few well spirited journeys. Haven't done the brim to brim calculations but the tank was full when I collected it and still has just over half left. Trip computer has settled @ 38.5mpg.

@carsfan2 - when are you collecting your G31?

Picked up this morning. Absolutely delighted.
Had a great blast in the 330e in sport mode on the way up and wondering how the 520d would compare.
Was more than surprised at how quickly I covered ground going home as the 5 is super refined and you find yourself going quicker than you think. Ride very supple too. Feels a lot more nimble than previous 5 to me.
Loving the heads up display and all the tech in the car. Kids enjoyed playing with gesture control and hands free tailgate.
Turns out car was registered 30th of June last by BMW and has 3000 miles only so feels brand new.

Massive turnover of cars it appears in Colm Quinn. The 530d I drove was sold last week and they have more cars coming all the time. What they have up on Carzone and what they have in the forecourt seem to differ a lot.
Two new 181 m4’s that weren’t there last week. One a competition pack in Austin yellow and a tanzanite blue regular m4.
Beautiful looking at 110k and 103k respectively.

Fully comp around €700 I think. If it is currently out of warranty there’s a loading.

Does anyone know what enhanced Bluetooth does or what a WiFi hotspot and internet connectivity in the car does either? Car has these features but beyond extra microphone and ability to pair more than one phone at a time can’t see anything else for the enhanced Bluetooth.
As for the other what’s the benefit?

With the Wi-Fi there's a paid internet connection. Maybe it's been paid already? Anyway.... you use the cars connection s data.... not your own phone data allowance.

Wi-Fi hotspot would allow you use the likes of a laptop or a tablet.

Enhanced Bluetooth, I've no idea. Maybe a bit faster or powerful or something I don't know.

I saw a review for the new 5 series and it had a feature 'connect up to 8 phones at a time'. Couldn't figure that one out myself to be honest how many people will be in the car at any time?

Get into a car that all the family use and you'll be surprised at how few phones can be saved to the memory.

I have it in the 4.
Main benefit is it allows you to connect 2 phones at same time.
Any Contact photos you’ve saved in your phone address book will also appear on the screen. And if you get text messages, they’ll appear on the screen too as notifications - this is of limited benefit these days of course as everyone seems to use WhatsApp now.

You should also have wireless charging - so if you have a new ish iPhone or Samsung you’ll be able to dock the phone in the cradle and it’ll charge no wires needed.

And if the car doesn’t already have CarPlay, you’ll be able to get it enabled - for a fee. I think enhanced BT is a requirement for this.

There’s also a bunch of apps built into the car like Spotify and Tune in radio. I find Spotify works really well, much better than it did in the VW’s.

That said if you’re android, I don’t think some of this stuff works so well - BMW are more in bed with Apple than android.

Oh yeah my car has the built in WiFi hotspot too. I tried to connect to it once but it appeared to prompt me to sign up for a monthly fee. A nice gimmick maybe if you’ve kids in the back and they want to connect their iPads on a long journey. Otherwise, not very useful imo.

It’s a bit marmite alright - maybe a tad too “baby blue” but I did see a new M4 in a showroom in the exact same shade and it was really stunning under the lights.

Also saw this orangey-red one recently which looked the dogs dangles...

Mostly motorway, very little city driving but I'm expecting the fuel gauge to drop fairly quickly once it goes below the halfway mark. I'd say the 535d is a different kettle of fish to the 530d to be fair especially when it comes to fuel consumption.

I priced a warranty for the F10 from them about 2 weeks ago. With a car approaching end of warranty you were talking about just over €700 for the year. If the car was outside of warranty then that went up to close to 1k. Those prices covered pretty much everything that a BMW dealer used warranty would cover and the excess was €100. I'd imagine a 6 Series will be higher but you get the picture.

640d a year ago was just over €700 fully comp but I think I put the excess at €600 or something high as I was going by the condition, history and miles of my own car. If something big goes, it would pay for itself very, very quickly.

Got this for herselfs 520 to extend the warranty during the week if it helps.

Had a look at this today, waiting on figures........do I need a diesel? No. Would I like something bigger engined than a 520d coming from a 640? Suppose. But you can't have it all so I'm curious anyway!

I have the same colour combo on mine.
    Love the Mediterranean blue.
What happened to the 6 gran coupe a dealer was getting in a few months back?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,517 ✭✭✭MarkN

It wasn’t as described to me. Wheels were from God knows what and the carpets looked filthy. Nearly think the guy who told me about it confused his cars.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,446 ✭✭✭Wailin

Easily the best colour combo in the G30 imo. Has the all important m sport plus pack. Doesn't have the upgraded headlights you get with visibility pack though which I'd have to have personally.

How did you find it behind the wheel compared to 640d?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,517 ✭✭✭MarkN

I didn’t drive it as I was in a hurry but I’ve driven a G30 prior to owning the 640. I’d have to have a drive again to see. Those headlights are still xenon or LED or whatever they describe them as these days though aren’t they?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,446 ✭✭✭Wailin

Yep, xenons as standard. Pic showing the standard with the adaptive. Small thing of course.

    41999058642_1256fb6047_o.jpg

Price seems very good for M sport compared to anything else out there.

Yeah I thought the same. It’s a UK car, really really fresh inside and out, I think some dealers just want to import them, make a few quid and keep turning them over whilst other dealers are just being greedy with the profit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,915 ✭✭✭✭mickdw

Let me know what they are offering on the 640d out of interest.

I had a deal done on a 2015 cls Mercedes pending service history being produced. Independent dealer promised a full print out from Mercedes.
When I rang Mercedes, car had never seen a Mercedes dealer!!

Adaptive LED headlights are standard on the G30 afaik with laser LED headlights a very expensive option.
