9: should read 1 E of the C Pretty sure it's One end of the something or One eye of the cyclops (too vague maybe)
    Hints
14: When the penny drops and you figure things out.
18: The sequel to a famous Irish sportsman's biography written by a Dublin teacher turned novelist
31: A 2015 Movie. A number of projectiles discharged in a certain time frame
32: When one opportunity is missed another one presents itself
33:An Agatha Christie mystery. Also an old childrens song / poem.
44:Don't give up if you fail
46:US aircraft developed by Lockheed effective at avoiding radar
52:A rags to riches pretty panto star with two less pretty siblings.

    Any hints for
    16: W 32 I'm thinking a song/album, band or movie
    40: 5 E in the P
    43. 1 M in M by J S I can't think of any Irish songwriter with initials J S (Irish writers yes)
    47. 3 B O, C tg4 A programme (Clár) on TG4 perhaps. There is a show called 3B Outdoors on Fox TV

Any hints for these 4 and No. 9 would be great please and I'm done.

Right, after much struggling I'm calling in some help!

Many thanks to the people above who have helped me with a few of them.

    I'm stuck on:
    9, 16, 27, 36, 40, 42, 47.

Also, number 48. I know what the clue is about, but I cannot think what the 'R' stands for.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    43. 1 M in M by J S I can't think of any Irish songwriter with initials J S (Irish writers yes)

I'm pretty sure the only famous Irish songwriter that goes by JS is John Spillane, but I have scoured song lists for ages and connot find any song matching 1 M in M.

Haven't got 9, 40 or 47 yet. Don't tell me but clues appreciated.
    Clues for the others

16: A rapper. Think of a person who is down and out
27: When something happens, something else often happens because of it
36: If you studied Irish for Leaving Certificate you heard of this guy, in the poetry section often compared with Mairtin O Direáin and their names rhyme. The year he was born and the SW Cork town where he was born near the Kerry border. No excuse for an Irish person not getting this one.
42: A best selling children's book by Sue Townsend

Any clues for 9, 40, 43 and 47 would be appreciated.

    Sorry Totofan99
In 48 the first R is an adopted surname. The second R is the West Cork town where he was born near Skibbereen.

Thanks JasperMcEwan! You helped me out a lot there.

As mentioned above, number 43 is John Spillane. A time of day and a month of the year.
One Morning in May by John Spillane

I thought of that but wrote it off as a song by another artist. Never figured on 2 different songs with the same name. Ned I'm not sure about the geometric angle (pardon the pun). In 2 dimensional figures you'd normally use the word side rather than edge and there's a lack of consistency 9. says "of the" and 40. says "in the" Edges would normally refer to 3-dimensional figures. Possible answers but a bit vague.

Please tell me you're joking. Stuck on 1. What currency do you use? I gave clue early on for 14. Detectives solve crimes by doing this. Mathematicians get 4 when they do it.

    I'm now stuck on 9 and 40

Don't think it's earlier suggested answers (just a hunch)
