The bitching on threads that ESB workers are getting overtime to restore supply today. Such ingratitude.

    Gets my goat!

They're getting very well paid for the work they signed up for. I don't begrudge them their overtime but I won't fawn over them either.

I don't get paid any more if I work christmas day or not, it's my roster, if I'm down to work I work and it doesn't matter what day of the year it is. It's annoying, to me, that most other jobs get paid overtime and I dont.

Happy Christmas fellow TAers !! Have survived it, though lost the end of the Sellotape a million times. And there was this one moment at dinner when I looked around at their faces and thought Jesus Christ is this my life, would it kill one of ye ingrates to say the dinner was nice or acknowledge the trouble I've put myself to! All is good, I've a bottle of tawny Port ;)

I have the 80's song "calling all the heroes" in my head despite not hearing it at all :-(

(Mind you.. Its probably because I saw a box of miniature heroes and my mind made the connection)

I fancy something to eat. A treat. But I don't know what.

June Rodgers is my TA tonight. Not funny or likeable in the slightest.

Every single Christmas, for the past several years, I've gotten a text first thing in the morning. I text back thanking them for the message and asking who it is.

They never ever text back!!! Why?!

Ring their number but with a 5 after the code (e.g. 087 5 and the rest of their number, it goes straight to voicemail and if you're lucky they may have recorded their own message. :)

Close the buttonholes and attach some snap fasteners. ;)
Bah. Saw that Romeo & Juliet was on, assumed it was the Baz Luhrmann version, was quite looking forward to it.

It wasn't. :( Some crappy old version, and I'm not arsed watching it.

If it's the 1968 Zeffirelli version with Olivia Hussey don't miss it, to me it's the best one there is.

    Mince pies? ;)

Did you have this scented candle too, you wouldn't notice his poo..:D

Pins and needles shot through my leg last night. Left me lying on my bed unable to move for a good 5-10 minutes. It was agony and slightly terrifying.

I took a bottle of wine out of the fridge, then the security light went on out the back.

With bottle in hand I looked out and saw the neighbourhood cat prowling and shoohed him off.

Turned around and OH crept up on me (no sillyness now), and of course I jumped and the bottle fell.

    Still picking up shards.

But the good thing is, we have MORE!!

My OH gave a load of leftover turkey and ham to our 2 dinner guests to
bring home but yet when I opened the fridge this evening to make myself a ham & turkey sambo. All I got was "Ah! Ah! Ah! That's for tomorrows dinner!"
I had to have a sandwich with ham out of a packet! FFS :(

Well, would YOU have gone out in that weather yesterday to climb pylons etc? They deserve danger money. I was out very briefly to get coal in and was soaked and blown over. They are worth their money. And more. And you are contracted; they are not.

Arrrrghhh! This is a pattern I have used often; all in one piece.. as a professional knitter it is easy.. So when I finish the fronts and start picking up stitches for the sleeve.. the edging on the back is back to front.. chances are no one would notice ( this is for sale) but with my luck would get a serious knitter taking it... will try unpicking the edge LATER. I NEVER make mistakes like this!

The many farts, presumably caused by yesterday's Brussel sprouts. Soundless but very smelly. The less said about this probably the better

I desperately need exercise so it is going to be a long wet walk around the park for me. TA that no one here is volunteering to come with me. I may have to bribe the 5 year old....

Oh the hangover.....vodka is a cruel mistress

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,634 ✭✭✭✭Graces7

So I decide to take dog for a walk down the mucky lane; cannot get warm and need to move around. Wellies have vanished along with waterproof clothing so I swathe myself in any cloth I can find. Dog is off like a rocket followed by outdoor cat.. THEN I see HEADLIGHTS at the top end of the lane. One Mr Nasty gets to use the lane and it would make his day to spray me with muck or have me running for my life, apart from not wanting anyone to see me dressed like this. Call the dog in.. GOOD DOG, back indoors... a few minutes later I see the landlords car roll up. Just turning but he waits a few minuted.. all of 8 am this is.Will need to go back to walking the dog in the dark. Far safer..later heard machinery so it may be he is fixing the lane which surely needs it...Time will tell

To relax, to tune out my family and the noise, to feel warm and happy and good :D

Sneezed about 20 times in a row until my eyes watered up and my mascara ran. The stinging was unbearable that I cried as well. God only knows what I look like now.

... and then the hangover? Bad idea! Letting family and noise win and make you suffer! A hangover means brain damage.

    I'm the same.
I work out 4-5 times a week and I enjoy it.

I allowed myself a few days over Christmas to eat what I wanted and I couldn't go to the gym because they're closed.

I didn't go mental yesterday; I had my dinner, a few chocolates and crisps and wine but already I feel sh*te and I'm dying to get rid of all this festive shoite in the cupboards and get back to the gym :D

We managed 90 minutes out and about. Splashing in puddles (the 5 year old, not me) and back now. Literally got soaked thru.
What better excuse for a hot whisky? :D

In laws have arrived and ruined our peaceful pj day. Mother in law got a new smart phone for Christmas. It appears the phone is smarter than her as she can't use it. Mr Sam has been tasked with the lesson. Mr Sam may work in IT but is not a patient man with people who don't 'get' it. Sigh..
