I hope you know Cork is different, a different country and language.

Where they speak a few octaves higher and job their arms back and forth when they talk. ..?

I like the cut of your jib OP, Pittsburgh eh? What's wrong with the good ol' Smoky City compared to Irlanda? Too many yokels? Steel work pollution getting in your eyes? Or are you not much of a Penguins fan? Needless to say, you should of course feel welcome here, just don't expect any of that 'yee-haw' stuff out here, unless you're moving to Leitrim that is.

Ary this had me laughing pretty good.

Surprisingly the area is relatively cleaned up, even compared to 30 years ago. Most of the steel mills gave closed and the environmental regulations in Allegheny county are nearly the most strict in America. So there's no smoke, forests have regrowth where they were dead before, buildings aren't covered in soot, there was even a major cleaning project done on the Cathedral of Learning on Pitt's campus (42 stories tall).

I myself am a big hockey fan, and I'll lament that there is none there, but I'll live. Hurling will fill the void I bet.

And I don't know about yokels and yee-haws. This is Pennsylvania, not West Virginia. They actually have laws on the books protecting their right to have "relations" with animals, as long as they are above a certain size. Look it up.
