Should have left that try be scored and then review the knock on.

And it was in the 5th minute and on like the half way line, with most of the Argentinian team between Pienaar and the try line anyway.

That was knocked loose by the tackler

clown of a referee - the standard of refereeing really needs to be addressed - and our own Mr. Lacy has been appalling

People talking about consistency, Lacey has that nailed, he's always a clown. Sure he player wasn't even successfully tackled and he gives him yellow. Some Muppet.

Any loss of control by the ball carrier is viewed as a knock-on, even though it's often completely wrong.

It's more the consistency between refs that needs to be addressed. I have seen a yellow given for that plenty of times. It's not THAT hard for a player to not tackle a player after they take a quick tap.

what annoys me that such a non clearcut yellow , really has the potential to ruin the game as competitive spectacle. RWC should be about growing the game , not a referees ego

    Chop tackle there?

Chop tackle and no arms. Plus saffer all over the wrong side after the break and no pen. Lacey.

Comedy of errors here. Lacey needs to go to specsavers. Bit of a farce of a game.

It's about as clear cut as a yellow gets? Player deliberately tackles when they know full well they were within the 10 metres. A player has pretty much no defence. If the ref just gives another penalty, then the defending team will know to just do it every time, as they're just getting the same punishment they already had.

The problem comes when refs decide to not punish players (like with Genia doing it last week), so the refs who give the yellow come off as looking harsh.

Any penalty can be called a brain fart. Stupidity is not an excuse. There is absolutely no way he can think he was 10 metres back so it has to be a yellow. If he pulled him back no one would say it wasn't a yellow, he just managed to make it look clumsy but it has the same effect.
