You should probably just burn down the gym. That'll learn 'em to use locks on the lockers.

Rumors have it that someone (a woman) spotted a spider in the locker there.

This is trivial but people who go on a treadmill and spend the duration of their time on it using the handrails, fair enough if you need a breather or put the speed /incline on too high, but it's kinda defeating the purpose if you need handrails to assist you.

It's like if you tried to bench 40 kg but failed, so instead of going back down to 35, you go up to 50 kg but get a spotter to lift the bar up when it reaches your chest instead of doing it yourself

Hmm I wonder does it? I mean do you burn significantly less calories holding the hand rails?

Arm swinging is more functional though

I imagine holding on (depending on how hard you are holding etc.) might be supporting your bodyweight, making it easier for your legs. But if you were just lightly resting your hands for balance etc. it would not be as big a factor as if you are using them to support your bodyweight. Or I might just be totally wrong!

From my own experience, it is much easier when using a handrail. I'd easily be able to increase my speed and incline using handrails

Does that not defeat the purpose though?

Yeah, I only ever used it for a couple of seconds. When I noticed how easier it made it, I took my hands off as it seemed self defeating. Hence why it annoys me!

Some people might be using it for balance, or when watching the TV's upfront its easier to just hold the rails rather than not paying attention and falling off the treadmill!

In changing rooms, it annoys me when people don't put a lock on the locker they are currently using...

When I come in and I'm looking for an empty locker, it can take ages to find an actual empty locker! Loads of unlocked ones, but with peoples' gear in them.

Then when those with unlocked lockers come back from their session, they often can't remember where their stuff is and have to ask people to move here, there and everywhere. Well if they had a lock the would be able to identify it....

    Rant over

    Guilty.

I'm buying a combination lock on Saturday.

Gym is quiet during the day but still can't do what I want because there's a guy curling in the squat rack.

And another guy doing leg raises an exercise lying on the bench press

To see one is unusual. To see both at same time is majestic

Guy this morning doing bar dips....on TOP of the power rack....which of course has one of the adjustable bar dip units attached to it. Genius! Why didn't I think of that before?!!!!

I've no idea how he managed to get up there and it looked truly bizarre. His feet alone were about 6 feet off the ground and his head was inches from the ceiling every time he went up. If I was the type to take a phone into the gym with me I'd have had a brilliant Gym Fail video submission. :(

Was he doing muscle ups by any chance?

You could try focusing on exercising rather than the tv...

    Keep running towards the food

No; well certainly not muscle ups as I know them! He was doing bar dips on the parallel bars (at 90 degrees) to the main frame (the bars people would use for parallel chins).

When people do stretching exercises underneath the chin up bar. There's a whole floor area to stretch in, but no, you have to do it under the ****ing chin up bar.

Or so close by the side of the squat rack so that when loading/unloading weights every set you need to say excuse me or do it over them...

Similar to this and I'm sure this has been covered before when people do dumb bell curls (or any other dumb bell exercise) inches from the rack thus blocking off access to a complete section whilst they do their own sets. SO FOCKING ANNOYING.

I've thought about this and can't come up with any credible answer !!

Just ask them to move and get on with your workout.

people bumping into the barbell when you're lifting,

that's a close case for murder in my eyes.

I have. But most of them don't hear you because they're beastin' it with their Beats headphones on max whilst grunting like a mofo. So you end up waiting anyway.

I'd support the "FREE RTighe" movement if you go down for that.

You don't have to be polite about it. Make it so they can't not see you.
