The fog around athlone is too thick. Some spots on the road I couldn't see 10 feet in front of me so had to give up on it

My niece saw a level 5 last week in Iceland. And didn't take one photo :(

Was up at Knock Airport and saw nothing. Clear skies and all. Got some nice shots of hue of lights through the fog from surrounding towns and villages though

The Space Environment Center's Neural Net Program estimates that . . .

in 24 minutes, the Geomagnetic Activity level (Kp number) will be 6.33 -- at STORM LEVEL!
in 40 minutes, the Geomagnetic Activity level (Kp number) will be 6 -- at STORM LEVEL!

    ***

Hopefully that'll keep going as the weather sounds better than last night:

Tonight will be mostly dry at first with a few clear spells over the northern half of the country, but cloud will increase from the southwest with patches of mist, drizzle or rain pushing northwards.

The aurora oval wouldn't make that much of a time difference for viewing along the north coast. I would say more like 9-11pm is best for the all those regions.

Next CME impact from yesterday's M flare forecast for Saturday.
    CTCE6hTW4AAigOC.jpg:large
So potential aurora for Saturday night if timing and clouds look good.

Cloudy here in finland. Not a fear of seeing anything.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,720 ✭✭✭Hal1

If it clears there may be a chance of seeing some very soon. Maybe as far south as Mayo / Louth.

The m3.9 flare yesterday is predicted to give a glancing blow late on the 11th into the morning of the 12th.
CME UPDATE: The NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center updated the WSA-ENLIL CME prediction model and are predicting a glancing blow to our geomagnetic field is possible by late November 11th and into the 12th. Coronagraph imagery is now updated and does confirm that the bulk of the CME was directed away from our planet. Sky watchers should remain alert nonetheless as another round of storming may be possible within 48 hours.

Kp 5 now and magnetic field south so may be visible up north if it's clear out.
Cloudy skies to the north down here.
