They've started rolling out fibre here and all markings look to have been made. Poles have been replaced as well. It states that rollout will be complete by 2nd half of 2017 so I hope to hear things soon ......(fingers crossed)

Same here, but I see this text when checking http://fibrerollout.ie/eircode-lookup-results'
We expect fibre broadband to be available to you by the second half of 2017.
'by the second half' means they have a month right? :) I can see that slippin'

It's ambiguous. It could mean what you're thinking - before the second half, or it could mean some time during (probably the end of) the second half.

It's a bit like the promises of Winter 2017, that could have meant the start of 2017 or the end of it. I don't think it's deliberate but it is confusing.

My one says 'by the first half'. So, I would expect your one means by the end of the year. My exchange went live a month ago but still no sign of them near my house. They would want to get a move on if those dates are accurate.

It's not black and white. Only some parts of any given exchange area might meet the criteria. e.g. my area Claregalway says "by first half of 2017" and indeed some parts have gone live, so they've achieved their goal!

Meanwhile at the other end of the exchange near me, they've still been recently doing wiring, and we have no splice boxes yet...

So who know when they'll be finished here, or even if there is any incentive to do so, since they've already met their own criteria for the area.

So, youre saying the eircode checker can only be taken as a general guide for the area ? Its pretty much useless then.

    Before works are done:
Nobody has matched eircodes to DPs and thus the system can only go on area wide timelines
    After works are done:
The eircode checker is saying a hard yes/no as the APQ data is then present.

My area ( corofin -( ballyglunin) co.galway)had been saying autumn 2017 - now by the second half of 2017, so I take it it's within the last half of the year still, just a bit more leeway for them.

There had been some techs working in the exchange for quite a period about three months ago but nothing more since so I still feel my assumptions is warranted.

Those schedules have been quite fluid in the past, Q1 2015 being pushed back five times to completion in Q2 2016 etc. Dont hold your breath until your eircode goes green.

What exactly do you mean by eircode goes green please? Have I a signal to look for or something?

    Edit:
Sorry, been dim here, just checked another eircode which I know will have to wait for NBP and that is framed by a blue box unlike the green framing my own result.
I see no activity in the area though so it's an optimistic green I fear.

Green was purely a reference to green for go, eir change their site colour scheme so often who knows what it'll be from one week to the next :pac:

Currently that €270 covers the install cost 150m from the drop point (splice box) and 50m from the road (NTP), this the cost the retail provider absorbs. Beyond that distance there may be an extra cost to the end user, I remember someone posting here previously that was charged extra for pole(s).

How are people getting in contact with the engineers to find out what infrastructure (poles, splice boxes etc) are needed?

Or do we just have to wait til they come around to install it before we find out?

Is your eircode on the planned 300k rollout (light blue) - http://www.dccae.gov.ie/en-ie/communications/topics/Broadband/national-broadband-plan/high-speed-broadband-map/Pages/Interactive-Map.aspx

Do you have an existing copper phoneline to the house, if so they should use the existing poles/duct.

If not can you run a duct to an existing pole on your site boundary, otherwise wait until FTTH comes to your area.

There is a few cases in my locality that they have fibre lines up at one end of the road but stops somewhere in the middle with completion on the long finger even so the whole road is marked yellow on Open Eir's map.

They seem to be running from Billy to Jack in the the rollout of ftth. They seem to work on a couple of roads in one area before moving off to the next area. There is part of my own exchange nearly ready to go live. But I might not get it on my road until the end of this year. There are still very few exchange areas fully complete in the first 300k programme.

A couple of points from that consultation
Eircom provided ComReg with details on the number of FTTC DSLAMs and optical line terminations (‘OLTs’) it has deployed in each MDF area and it also indicated that the deployment of FTTC DSLAMs is almost complete. This information from Eircom has been used as the basis for the number and location of FTTC DSLAMs and OLTs in the NGA Cost Model. The number of FTTC DSLAMs is initially based on Eircom’s deployment of DSLAMs in 2016. Future DSLAM numbers are then amended depending on the projected demand expected at an exchange site. It is also assumed that the OLT deployment is near completion and that installations for future deployment will be as a remote OLT (with a connection to an existing OLT).
    ...
The number of installed OLTs will not change significantly as any new deployment at future sites will be connected to an existing OLT by “Remote OLTs”

Where would these “Remote OLTs” be used, maybe on vey long runs of fibre, close to the 20km limit?

    Also from Comreg
Eircom is marking, on its NGA deployment plans, the cabinets which will also have FTTH services in the vicinity. Such Cabinets are marked on the NGA Deployment plan as being “Dual FTTC/FTTH” cabinets.

Eircom is also currently providing an indication of the number of premises that may be served by FTTH from each “Dual FTTC/FTTH" cabinet.

According to Comreg, “Dual FTTC/FTTH" cabinet does not mean that the cabinets have dual functionality, simply that FTTH service will be rolled out within the geographic area covered by the cabinet.

Yes I am on a yellow line and inside a light blue circle. We also have an existing copper phoneline. Phew! I was afraid I would have to cut trees, erect poles and dig trenches like others above.

    Thanks!

Has anyone tried a static ip for the devices they have issues on? not sure if that was mentioned before?

I had the same problem with Android / Huawei Modem a few years back

    Static ip fixed it

no solution with the F2000, it's wireless feature is completely broken. The device really needs an update which will fix the issue.

I am gonna look into getting a TP Link and see if that will solve my wireless issues.

Do you have to buy a static IP address from Eir?

Internal Network Static IP, so not a the public one, so if modem is using 192.168.1.254 then one of the IPs the device will be using will be 192.168.1.X

DHCP will often start on the lower IP range, so if you are unsure on what IP to use, just enter in something in the higher range from 192.168.1.230 upwards :)

So add your device manually, this is a basic step by step:
    Android: http://tunecomp.net/static-ip-android/
    IOS: http://osxdaily.com/2012/05/19/manual-dhcp-static-ip-address-ios/
    Windows/MAC/Consoles: https://portforward.com/networking/staticip.htm

yep since day 1. Wireless connects to everything at first, but on mobile devices it keeps going inactive while showing a full signal and works again maybe 30 seconds later for another minute and goes again. Very intermittent performance on mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets, yet works fine on the TV, Sky box and games consoles. Go to most apps and it's just a white screen with the loading icon spinning for up to 30 seconds then suddenly loads everything at once.

    Thanks for advice!

I have just entered a static IP as suggested (don't know if I did it right) but has not helped so far. DHCP details still showing but I guess if static tab is selected as per photo it uses that?

    Cheers

So K&N are installing the civils around my area lately. They are at the top of my road. The rollout map shows them coming down my road but stopping about 300m away from my house.

Is there any way to get them to come the extra 300m ?

no; wait for the NBP roll out.
