Ok now that the inter county has been wrapped up its back to the club games which will be coming thick and fast over the next few weeks

The Senior Club Final is on down here at the weekend, its Dr Crokes against Dingle

The senior hurling final which got a lot of media attention last year because of a half time incident is also on this weekend and its between St Brendan's (Ardfert) and their parish neighbours Kilmoyley

What stage are the club championships at in your county?

Waterford Senior Hurling Championship is at the Semi Final Stage:

    Ballygunner V Fourmilewater
    Ballyduff Upper V Tallow

What's most interesting about this years championship is the Relegation Final due to take place this weekend between De La Salle and Lismore.
One of the 'big boys' about to go down.

The Senior Football Championship is still in the group stages - last round of group games to be played this week (I think).

Tyrone Senior Football Semi-Finals This Weekend

    Coalisland ( Last won 2010 ) v Trillick ( Last won 1986 )
    Killyclogher ( Last won 2003 ) v Dromore ( Last won 2011 )

Dromore are bookies favourites, but Killyclogher are defending League Champions and beat Dromore in the final last year, should be a good game. Dromore currently top the league table , Killyclogher joint second with Omagh. Cathal Mc'Carron, Ryan Mc'Menamin and Colm Mc'Cullagh' are the notable names for Dromore, but Ronan Mc'Nabb out through injury which is a big loss.
Killyclogher have Tiernan Mc'Cann, Conall Mc'Cann, Sean Fox ( U21 Goalie and Tyrone Senior Squad member ) and Mark Bradley as well as Dermot Carlin who recently retired from County commitments, as well as a few other ex-county players with All-Ireland medals.
Coalisland slight favourites in other game but Trillick are up and coming with some great young players and Mattie Donnelly. Teams tied in 7th place in league placings.

Meath SFC is into the semi final stage. Champions Navan O'Mahony's will play St. Peter's Dunboyne while Na Fianna and Gaeil Colmcille, the IFC champions of 2012 and 2013 respectively, play in the other semi final. Hoping that this year's champions can represent Meath with much greater distinction than our champions have in recent years.

St. Peter's Dunboyne are also in the SHC semi final against last year's champions Kiltale. Last year's runners up Trim play Kildalkey in the other semi final.

Incidentally, my own club Ratoath, who had 5 players on this year's Meath panel, have the chance to reach the senior grade for the first time ever on Sunday week when they will play either Trim or Nobber in the IFC final.

Dublin club champo kicks off again the weekend of Oct 2-4. The plan was to have at least 2 rounds complete before the before the summer break, but a bunch of 2nd round games got rained out back in May, so things are a bit up in the air.

When it's all sorted out, Vincents and Ballymun Kickhams are set to meet up in Round 3. Or Philly vs Dermo Round 3, as we call it up here. :o

Last group games of Sligo Senior Championship this weekend, although 3 of them essentially meaningless. Only one with any significance is last year's beaten senior finalists St. Mary's needing to win against St. Molaise Gaels to avoid the relegation playoffs. Other groups already decided with Geevagh, St. Johns and Drumcliffe/Rosses Point already in relegation trouble.
    Sligo SFC Fixtures:
    Calry/St. Joseph's v St. Johns
    Tubbercurry v Geevagh
    Tourlestrane v Eastern Harps
St. Mary's v St. Molaise Gaels

Intermediate in Sligo is at semi final stage with both taking place on Sunday:
    Buninnadden v Castleconnor
    St. Patrick's v Easkey

As a side note my own club is out of the mix for the year having been eliminated at QF stage... But delighted we're involved in minor final Saturday afternoon. First minor championship final in 12 years so bit of excitement around the town at least!

    Limerick hurling:

    Kilmallock vs Na Piarsigh
Munster club champions of last 2 years meeting, Nap probably favourites as kilmallock have some injury problems

Patrickswell vs adare or ahane(gone to replay), p'well, under Ciaran Carey would be favourites as they are unbeaten this year and the ahane/adare game is going to a replay

If a club wins the county then they go forward,if a divisional team wins it then the winners of the club go forward

At least that's what I think the story is.

Cavan SFC is at semi-final stage.

    Kingscourt v Killygarry
    Killeshandra v Castlerahan.

Cavan Gaels, who have dominated the club scene is Cavan for a while were beaten in the quarters by Kingscourt, who have lost twice in this years championship!

Roscommon Senior Football Championship Semi Finals today in Kiltoom

Padraig Pearses 2.12 Roscommon Gaels 0.10
    St.Brigids 0.12 Clan na nGael 0.14

Great results for the County - will be a new cup holder after all the Brigids dominince. Two south Roscommon local rivals to add to the excitement. Clan who were the domininant club for years back in the 80's haven't been in final since 1997 and Pearses despite many final appearances have never won a Senior title.

Shane Curran is the Pearses manager and Paul Curran is the Clan manager.

No - they got relegated a few years back and won the Intermediate title, and have won Under 21 and Minor but no Senior. We have a bit of a Mayo like history when it comes to finals. In the Senior and Minor final in football and Senior hurling final in the next few weeks so hopefully this year will be different.

Tyrone senior semi-finals played this weekend. Bookies favourites beaten in both semi-finals:
    Killyclogher beat Dromore 0-13 - 0-12
Killyclogher up by six points at half time and Dromore reduced to 13 men, straight reds for Barry Collins and former County man Colm Mc'Cullagh. Killyclogher hanging on at the end after Dromore missed a penalty in the second half and ex county men Dermot Carlin & Eoin Bradley receiving 2 yellows each and a black card for Ronan Mc'Nabb.

    Trillick beat Coalisland 0-13 - 0-05
Last night to reach their first final since 1987. They only came up from intermediate level last year, having lost the intermediate final. The scoreline was a shock to me, Coalisland would be very disappointed, after going in as favourites. Good performances from Lee Brennan, MAttie Donnelly and the Trillick goalkeeper who pulled off a string of great saves. Coalisland finished with 14 men and 1 or 2 black cards.

A great chance for one of these teams now to win a County title, Killyclogher should go in as favourites ( current league champions ) after beating Trillick by 15 points in the league earlier in the season.

    St. Mary's vs Coolaney/Mullinabreena
    Curry vs Eastern Harps

Intermediate final will also take place outside Markievicz Park for the first time in a long time that I can remember, out in the west of the county in Enniscrone between Castleconnor and Easkey.

Wexford's senior hurling semi-final pairings are as follows:

Oulart the Ballagh vs Faythe Harriers
    St.Martin's vs Glynn Barntown

Oulart are the unquestionable favourites to claim their sixth title in seven years, and were rarely out of second gear in defeating last year's runners-up St.Anne's by 3-14 to 0-12, while a late Rhys Clarke point snatched a 0-17 to 1-13 win for Harriers against a Cloughbawn outfit who were quietly confident of advancing, but had two starters suspended following the fracas in the final group game against St.Martin's. Harriers will stay with Oulart early on in the semi, but Oulart will pull away fairly comfortably.

St.Martin's had the stand-out result of the weekend, deservedly defeating reigning champions Shelmaliers by 1-15 to 1-9. They have been my tip to run Oulart the closest this year, and perhaps even win the championship, and have introduced a lot of young players to the side. Were shorn three suspended players themselves against the champions who were more or less full strength, so they'll be confident of progressing further. Glynn's age profile is enviably young, and they too play a brand of hurling that can beat any team on any given day, and were more comfortable against Buffers Alley than the 0-17 to 1-13 win suggests. Alley got a goal in injury time and never got going on the day. The semi final should be a cracker, but I fancy St.Martin's to edge it. Maybe after a replay.

Interestingly, St.Martin's remain on course for a senior double, as they face Castletown in a mouth-watering football semi-final this weekend. Daithi Waters and Ciaran Lyng are formidable for Martins' and they have had some titanic recent battles with Castletown over the last few championships, for whom former Wexford star Colm Morris leads by example. It will be a tight one, but Castletown have had the Indian sign over Martin's recently, and may have a better spread of forwards to notch the win here. Midfield will be key.

Intermediate champions St.James are in their first ever senior semi-final having shocked reigning senior champions St.Anne's in the quarters, and face a Shelmaliers side who have been a coming force the last few years, but have never progressed beyond the penultimate rounds. Have been more impressed with the Jimmies all year, and their central spine of Wexford senior captains Graham Molloy and Matthew O'Hanlon, and Brendan Doyle, is formidable, and expect them to continue their fairytale season here against a Shels side despondent after losing their hurling crown.

Senior Championship QFs played this weekend in Sligo, big shock with reigning champions Tubbercurry being knocked out by last year's Intermediate winners Calry/St. Joseph's. St. Mary's, Tourlestrane and Curry also progressed, beating Coolaney/Mullinabreena, Coolera/Strandhill and Eastern Harps respectively by relatively small margins.
Semi finals see St. Mary's take on Tourlestrane, and Calry/St. Joseph's meeting Curry.

Intermediate final saw a bit of a shock, with Easkey netting 5 goals (game was even at 1-8 a piece at the time) in an eight minute spell to blitz bookies favorites Castleconnor. Final score Easkey 6-10, Castleconnor 2-9.

My own club Ratoath have been promoted to Senior for the first time in their history after winning the Meath IFC final.

Ciaran Carey's Patrickswell will play Na Piarsaigh in the final of the Limerick SHC after they hammered Adare today. A serious inside forward line of Lar Considine, Limerick panellist Tommy O'Brien and U-21 All-Ireland winner Kevin O'Brien is pretty formidable. They have Carey's nephew Cian Lynch further out the field, playing at centre-forward today- he's incredibly gifted and they have two other players from the U-21 panel, Aaron Gillane & Jack Kelliher, scoring loads from wing-forward/midfield.

Then they have a fine half-back line too with the captain of that U-21 team, Diarmuid Byrnes, at centre-back who put in a monster performance today. Mark Carmody has Limerick experience and Seanie O'Brien at midfield started for Limerick seniors this year. Former Limerick hurler of the 90s and early 2000s, Barry Foley, is at full-back with former All-Star goalie, Brian Murray, between the sticks. It's mostly a very young team and they've played fine hurling this year.

Na Piarsaigh got revenge on Kilmallock in the other semi-final, but weren't as impressive as they perhaps should have been. They have an abundance of talent too, and despite having a lot of young players, have more experience- with 2 Munster club titles in the past few years. They have Ronan Lynch, Michael & Peter Casey and David Dempsey from the U-21 winning team. They have Shane Dowling, Kevin Downes, Adrian & David Breen and Cathal King from the Limerick senior team as well as the likes of Alan Dempsey, James O'Brien and William O'Donoghue who have been involved with underage teams in the past. And young Casey scored 4 or 5 from play against Kilmallock in the semi, which is no mean feat for a lad who is still minor.

It might be a year too soon for the Well but they have been the form team in the county and Carey seems to be doing a great job. No one really gave them much of a chance at the start of the year, they didn't even make the quarters last year. I'd like to see them do it tbh, played some lovely hurling today.

In the football, Drom/Broadford are in yet another final, playing Newcastlewest. Drom beat Monaleen by 4 points, the 2nd team they've beaten them this year. Monaleen are a decent side but Drom still have the edge in most games, despite a lot of their key players getting on a bit. Newcastle lost to Ballylanders this time last year, Ballylanders went on to win the Championship, but they got a big win this time. Both sides lost a single game in the group, Drom to St. Pat's and NCW to Adare, who are favourites to be relegated. I wasn't at it but a 9-point win against the champions is nothing to be sniffed at and they do have some fine players. Drom have the experience though, and I'd have to give them the edge.

One finalist of the Wexford senior football final is known after the 2013 champions St.Martin's defeated my own club Castletown by 1-11 to 3-2 in the semi final on Sunday. Can have no qualms about the defeat, as Castletown only scored a solitarly point from play over the hour, and while they got to within two points in the last four minutes, that was borne more out of Martin's getting a man straight red-carded in the final quarter, and Castletown scoring two goals. The victors raced into a 0-6 to no score lead in the first quarter, with Ciaran Lyng in red hot form, and in truth they never looked like losing from there on in.

The other semi saw last year's Intermediate champions St.James' draw 1-9 to 0-12 with Shelmaliers. It's rather notable that for the second match running that Shelmaliers found themselves trailing with full time approaching, only to tag a late equalisier to secure the draw. May point to them having a huge will to win. Didn't stay for any of it as I was too disappointed after the result of the match before, but I believe it was a good game. The replay is on this coming Saturday evening, and I tip St.James' to finish the job this time out. Have been impressed with them all year, and their central spine is rather formidable (they are many people's favourites to win the Intermediate A hurling championship, and their semi final is delayed as a result of the replay).

Incidentally, St.Martin's remain on course for a senior hurling/football double (not done since St.Anne's achieved it in 2000), as they face Glynn Barntown in the stand-out of the two semis this Sunday. Represents a Wexford district derby, and both teams have the right age profile to be confident of being a serious force in senior hurling for the foreseeable future. Glynn have the better head to head record in recent encounters, but I feel St.Martin's have the better credentials to set themselves up for another final.

Oulart the Ballagh play Faythe Harriers in the other semi, and I expect nothing other than a win for Oulart the Ballagh. Lee Chin and Richie Kehoe will no doubt bring their influence to bear for Harriers at midfield and centre back respectively, and Rhys Clarke will carry the can up front, but Oulart appear to be back to their ruthless ways this year under Frankie Flannery, and possess a greater spread of attacking options up front, while Keith Rossiter, Paul Roche and Eoin Moore count amongst their stronger defenders.

Another talking point from the weekend was Glynn Barntown humbling championship favourites Kilarnerin by 2-10 to 0-5 in the Intermediate football semi final. They too remain on course for a potential double, and were impressive against the former senior kingpins, who saw their legendary Matty Forde dismissed on a straight red card offence early in the second half. And Jason Ryan appears to be working the oracle at Taghmon Camross, as they surged into the junior hurling decider after accounting for Tara Rocks.
