Yes, that was a bit excruciating. Hugo knows his stuff but is better used in the studio reviewing what has happened than trying to cover up the faux pas of the guy with the live mike.

No offense to Gerry but don't think I could listen to his voice for 80 minutes.

Thought Murphy ran an enjoyable analysis of tonight's proceedings there. Way ahead of Cooper, principally because he has a sense of humour.

As a match analyst, however, Hugo is pre-programmed - NZ are great -, just painful.

    Oh they certainly do.

    NFL games are 99% free

Baseball, Basketball and Ice Hockey less so but still the finals and a good shot of the playoffs and at least one game per week during the season are

Thats a very common misconception about televised sports in america, 3 NFL games on a sunday free to air, the playoffs and superbowl FTA. NBA double headers on sunday free to air and the finals and key playoff games, Similarly with Hockey. Baseball playoffs all free to air. Fifa world cup , soon to be free to air on fox. The weekend of the masters, us open all FTA.

Hence there are so many ads.

The rest is either on local FTA television or ESPN, Fox Sports or NBC Sports. ESPN is dirt cheap compared to what people pay here for sky sports/bt and most people with cable have is. The other networks less so.

There are subscription packages through direct tv where you have access to every game , that does cost money but worth it if you that into it and way better than say here forking out for sky/bt if you are really just interested in one sport.

Subscription channels here are cleaning everything up but its not from the US they are getting their inspiration from.

Who's the co-commentator that keeps using the word Pelanty?

"Matt, do they just have to give it a lash?"

That's why Cooper is paid the big money.

Watching this England match on the TV3 player and it says HD in the corner, but it's definitely not. There seems to be no option to set the quality either.

Is there a way to stream it in HD from TV3?

Do BBC have a hope of ever getting rights for this if thats the case.

    The least of my worries.

I'm just tired of the endless ads. Bugger all analysis from the "panel."

At least Toland is adding some decent insights.

This TV3 commentator just seems to name names of players on the ball. Offers no insight or excitement at all.

The called the Aussie second try from way out...called a few moves in the match

I can't remember off top of my head but never heard a commentator call a move/try so far in advance before.....

    Found them good myself.....

Maybe they've heard the criticism and were trying to justify it a bit. They're wrong if that's the case.

Or maybe not. Maybe they haven't been listening and/or don't care. It's still a load of ****.

RTE run ads yet they don't fit in a break so close to kick off.

Again they're switching channel at half time to allow well over an hour of buildup to the Ireland match. Most of the issues I had at the start of their coverage have been resolved but this one still bugs me.
