If anyone decided to go the dell.co.uk/Parcel Motel route, bear in mind that there may be a delay of a couple of days. Their fraud prevention team will call you to verify your details. I got a call within 30 minutes of placing the order, but it took 2 days for the order to show as approved.

Same. Unlikely three different orders all have something wrong...

I notice there are supposed to be two boxes Box Qty 2 .

I ordered just the unit and palm rest, removing the keyboard and mouse... Maybe this has something to do with it. What did everyone else order?

On the phone to DELL been listening to the same jingle for 16 minutes now... with the occasional interruption reminding me to activate mccaffee or else i'll get viruses... Ironically when I get my order the first thing I intend to do is delete this.

18 minutes.... Still counting.

OK after speaking with DELL the situation is, both boxes were shipped however they may have shipped from different source locations..

The box that is currently in Athlone is the main unit and the other box is keyboard/palm rest whatever... He seemed confident that the stuff would all arrive today and that it would be dispatched and arrive tomorrow.

Im skeptical

Looks like the 2nd box (probably the palm rest) coming from Lutterworth is now leaving the UK.

They must've been waiting on the 1st package (desktop) from WAALWIJK, NL to be delivered to DPD Athlone
-or-
they messed up and should have sent the 1st package from WAALWIJK to Lutterworth to be combined with the 2nd package and then shipped both to DPD Athlone

The seperate boxes could put paid to people trying to save money by using Dell UK and parcel motel as they will end up paying for 2 stays.

Neither have I; I want it simply because I always want technology bargains..but I don't need it.

Anyone using this as a home computer? Would this be a decent option for a home computer for a student if I were to add ram to it? Would just need it for Microsoft word and Audacity, Web surfing etc. Could it run all of the above no problem? Anyone bought this for a home desktop?

As long as you don't have a ton of applications open at once it would be fine for surfing and office.

LOL, I had it in my basket several times over as I was on the look out for a NAS anyway but for a change I didn't act on impulse and did a bit more digging and purchased the Seagate 5TB Cloud Storage which also runs a Plex server so that's meeting all my other needs.

Anyone with an expected delivery date of today have any good news?

My tracking says there's 3 boxes.
1 is in athlone
1 is in transit from the UK
1 is unknown altogether :pac:

I doubt I'll be getting it today anyway!!

EDIT:
Scratch that, the 2nd box is in athlone now too.
Hopefully the 3rd one is with it and it makes it's journey today
