Its getting close to the ten year anniversary of alive 2006/2007 by Daft Punk, and the 20 year anniversary of Alive 1997 so hopefully they keep up this supposed ten year rule and rock the picnic either next year or the summer after.

    Ah here, another thread??? :D

Yeah Daft Punk would be nice, although I would'nt mind seeing Radiohead headlining either....

I have to say that this festival is gone to the dogs. Everything is overpriced, security were rude, cops going around busting people. The audio was off on the main stage. Electric Picnic is not worth the hassle. We will be finding another festival !!

Pearl Jam. I will keep an eye on the smaller festivals next year though . Not sure big big big is for me.

Think the tickets are going on sale this friday. Will probably just be early bird like that year.
I wonder will they increase the early bird prices?

    Hey,

First time at EP and loved it. Curious about the pink moon camping? How much is it and is it worth it?

I'd guess they will have very few early birds, pricing will be higher and may have more stringent eligibility for getting them.
Going by the amount of enthusastic first time attendees on the 2 threads, they will sell out again next year, even at all full price tickets.

Doubt I'll go again but mainly due to feeling my age. I don't think there's anything missing to be honest, I just think nostalgia ain't what it used to be.

Will be buying my ticket as soon as available, not worrying about who might or might not be playing, taking it on faith that there'll be at least a dozen on the line up to my tastes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5 llewelynmoss

Want to get my tickets nice and early this time. Was ****ing hell trying to get sorted for this year.

Any idea of how much the early bird will be and how long they'll be on sale for?

Would love to see Daft Punk, Alt-j and The Weeknd headlining. Sufjan Stevens playing at some time too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3 00kevin

I'd like the exact same line up as this year, it would negate all the clashes & I'd see everyone I missed without the nagging suspicion I'd made the wrong choices.

    TV On the Radio
    Super Furry Animals
    Idlewild

Total long shot but imagine if they brought Bowie

Foals are probably headlining Reading & Leeds, could see them coming back if they don't do Longitude. if they announce a spring gig with MCD then I'd say it's pretty nailed on that there'll be a festival appearance too going on previous years/tours.

The xx should have a new album out by then too. Jamie xx's album was massive, so their new one might push them up to headliners after subbing before.

Depends how many are staying. We got a 6 man for 540 euro. It ain't cheap but we'll worth it in my opinion. I think my mate got a 2 man for 250 euro. There was no scumbag element whatsoever and everyone was happy and respectful. If staying up til 6am causing havoc is your thing then pink moon ain't the way to go!

No idea who to even guess might play next year but considering Picnic seem usually to grab a few acts of the Longitude bill from the previous year, I'd like to see them get Caribou or Todd Terje. Not sure if Caribou has ever played Picnic before? Todd Terje has a few times, but not since 2012.

The XX would be something else.

Some of Phoenix, Bombay Bicycle Club, Frightened Rabbit, Real Estate, Caribou, Moderat, Wolf Alice, ASIWYFA, White Lies, Beirut, Fleet Foxes, Band of Horses, The National, Vampire Weekend is not too much to ask for, right? :pac:

The Cure back would make me consider seriously about going next year.

Might just end up going to Body & Soul though.

Only kidding, sort of. Would have went this year but I would only have been going for just three acts. Didn't seem worth it.

Jesus first reply daft punk as usual and it wasn't even a joke! I hope for chromeo finally as they haven't played Ireland since they got their laptop stolen in 2010

I think Body & Soul will be getting a load of refugees/migrants from EP next year.

Tickets on sale this Friday, do they still do a deposit system where you pay it bit by bit or do you have to buy them in one lump ??

Was there this year for the first time since 2011 after an uninterrupted chain starting 2006 I think it was.

The festival has definitely changed from being more like what Body and Soul is now to being more like what Oxegen was then. This is lamentable, HOWEVER I still had an absolutely fantastic time with no major complaints to mar my experience and a really great group of people to spend the time with. I nearly didn't go this year as I wasn't sure I wanted to drop the cash and waste the annual leave but I feel energised for the festival again so I'll be buying my early bird/loyalty scheme as soon as they're up.
Might just end up going to Body & Soul though.

I did both this year (along with Castlepalooza and Longitude) and while B&S was my favourite festival of the year (maybe ever) you just can't beat the sheer scale and spectacle of the Picnic.

Definitely going next year (hopefully as a performer, whoop!)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,759 ✭✭✭✭bodhrandude

I'll just ask for the usual:
    Aphex Twin
    Daniel Avery
    James Holden
    ZZ Top
    The Stooges
    Alo Wala
NWA (If they decide to tour)
    Daft Punk (Why not)
    Air (Are they still around?)

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

I reckon that next summer we will see Foals and the Libertines headlining festivals in the UK and Ireland. Whether that is at EP or Longitude we won't know for a while yet really.

Until a few more bands announce albums for next year it'll be tough to predict really.

I'll probably wait to see a few bands announced before I decide if I'm going. Had a great year again this year, just the money side of things. If I don't go to EP I can probably go on another foreign holiday for a week!!! One thing is certain though, if I am there I'll be in Pink Moon again. Made a huuuuge difference this weekend for me. I seem to have completely avoided the troublesome element that some people are talking about!

My dream headliners... Radiohead and Wilco.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,342 ✭✭✭Bobby Baccala

Dream headliner for me would be Fleetwood Mac but that's just a pure pipe dream

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,209 ✭✭✭maximoose

Sure if we're going for dreams give me Radiohead

Most likely will get an early bird as soon as they are out, handy enough on the instalment plan and no danger of not being able to sell it on.

Are these just regular tents, already put up for you?
Are there other things there like yurts or podpads or something like that? how much do they cost do you know?

It's a range of tent types/sizes already put up (with inflatable sleeping mats & bags if you need to hire them). Think the two man this year was about 170ish, i wound up upgrading to a two man rainbow tipi which was an extra 60ish as I was sharing with some one.

Sounds pricey and it's not cheap but you're also paying for the security (big **** off fence), showers, clean bogs etc for the three nights along with the charging station, beauty area for the ladies, access to a food crew and your own bar.

They share their area with podpads (ithink it was) who do what can only be described as festival wendy houses.

The yurts etc were over in a different section of the grounds

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,539 ✭✭✭ghostdancer

are the showers, charging, and hairdryer/straighteners free to use or are they extra on top of what you've already paid?
