Partial cloud cleared mid-morning - cloudless since; despite the continuous sunshine a SE breeze took the edge off the temps and the max was 16.8C.

Still mainly clear, some light high cloud and now 12.6C.

Cloudless again - and despite a moderate easterly breeze the temp is now 18.3C...must be coming from a warm source.

Overnight low only 10C despite clear skies.

Beautiful Summer-like day, like Thursday all over again!

    Mean temperature 12.6c - +0.7c above average
    Max. temperature 17.9c - +0.9c above average
Min. temperature last night 7.3c -0.6c below average
Sunshine so far - 6.2 hours

Even though nights will be chilly, my September mean temperature will be around only -1.0c below average by the 30th compared to -3.1c below average right now at my coldest September on record

Looks like I was wrong, my deviation of September's mean temperature is -1.9c. Still a great rise from -3.1c thanks to very MILD (hot feeling) days.

    Grange's September 2015 report

Exceptionally cold and wet but quite sunny.

Rainfall: Wettest since 1999. More than half rainfall recorded during 11th-13th.
Rainfall total of 63.7mm was 115% of the LTA - my wettest September since the record-breaking wet one of 1999. The rainfall was very unevenly distributed throughout the month as more than half of the total was recorded during the period 11th-13th. On the 11th, I had my second wettest day with 22.4mm whilst the wettest day was the 13th with 27.1mm. The 21st was another quite wet day but not so as these two. Two areas of high pressure kept conditions dry however from the 4th-10th and 25th-30th.

Temperature: Third coldest September on record. A maximum of 20.1c on the 8th!
Mean temperature of 9.5c was -1.9c below the average and was my third coldest September since records began in 1986. This was largely due to low daytime temperatures at the start of the month and was not helped by the fact that the nights throughout were very chilly. I recorded my highest maximum for September since 2011 with 20.1c on the 8th, the only day I reached 20c or more. My maximum of only 13.4c on the 3rd was my lowest for September since 2012. Over 24 of the nights during September had minimum temperatures below 6c. I recorded my lowest minimum on the 1st with 1.3c, my lowest since 2007 and coldest on record for the beginning of September as I had no such low temperature before at that time.

Sunshine: The 8th-10th and 26th-30th were very sunny periods.
Sunshine total of 165 hours was 140% of the LTA and was helped largely by the very sunny days during the periods 8th-10th and 26th-30th. I had my second sunniest September day on record on the 8th with 12.1 hours. All of these days recorded at least 10 hours of sunlight. The 3rd and 4th were the only dull days.

All in all, like the Summer, it was very unremarkable. It is very strange how I have nearly 30 hours more of sunshine than any station on the Met Éireann weather summary.

Intrigued by this statistic...for several months we've recorded the same or (usually) I get slightly more total rain yet it is over a smaller number of "rain days".

My station doesn't record anything less than 0.2mm in a day (or rather the tip is calibrated to 0.2mm) - is your station more sensitive?
