When are the knockout stages of the Harps CL competition?

Reckon this is my best shout of getting anything from this season.

    GW21 & 23

There's a Christmas competition for spot prizes kinda stuff for the Xmas weeks probably 17-20

Lovely stuff, not likely to win anything in either competition though.

Just looking at my leagues, I'm only 10 points off second in the Longford town league, 50 points off the lead but the guy in first has no great history, that looks winnable.
The harps league and boards pay league will require miracles, but then again I had a fantastic string of weeks around this time last year so I won't give up

Hmm, wished i entered the Longford league now!!

I had an amazing run last year from December to March which saw me march from mid table obscurity to top of my main leagues as well as accruing 19 wins from 21 games in the latter part of FSA Premier league so anything is possible.

Miracles can happen and if they don't sure there's always next year.

I'm firmly in the needing a miracle camp. Even managed to dive below you this week!! :)

Still top of my work league but only a few quid in that. 5th in a work related league with potentially decent prizes and no players with any history. 65.points behind a guy who never played before! He also benched Mahrez this week, the moron!! :)

That Buckets league is still wide open too.

We're both still ahead of our old lurker pal though! :D

Yeah, i had pretty much wrote this season off too but i remember the great run i went on last year. If the season started in December i would have won every league i was in by a good distance. Even though i have written off this season i'm still ahead of a few of my key rivals so maybe i shouldn't be so quick to give up - i'm not sure. The great thing is, once i stopped caring, i stopped getting upset. Some bad scores would affect me emotionally (temporarily!) so now i don't care, which helps. :)

Buckets league is easy picking i think, standard is poor enough. Picked up the monthly prize in October with an average score. Played half-arsed too not having looked at ffs, price changes or twitter for over 2 months so the lesson is don't try too hard and do well. A lot of league leaders are the ones making the quick friday night or saturday night transfers this year. For whatever reason a more casual approach seems to be more effective this year.

Also your lurker pal's second team is 50 points worse off than his main team so it is out of the running for good prizes too at this point

This is potentially always true. One of my best ever run (weekly & monthly prizes won) came during the final 2 months of my PhD writing-up where I was spending the most limited amount of time I ever spent on the game (basically making a quick mid-term popular transfer and picking my captain from FFS (C) poll). I mean this place & FFS website are just pricelessly brilliant if you need quick advices/guidance for an efficient "casual" approach .

Once your team is well set, which should be our case after the first international break WC (whether you actually play your WC or hold it because you're happy with your team), what does time actually make for your team? I mainly come here to enjoy great discussions about the game but in the end, more time means more overthinking, more transfers, more hits, more trying too hard to build the ideal team that, eventually and in reality, does not exist!

Anyhow, I'll repeat again that keeping a simple gameplan and making sensible decisions (i.e. not giving in to "crazy" differentials) will see you climb up the rankings.
This GW is also a testimony for my "no strong front 8" approach. Only Busts seem to be able to take advantage of it. For how long though? e.g. Mahrez over Ayew was a very lucky outcome.

Jammy my ass, I lost my first two games so to get back into the knockout stages with a little help from a fellow FSA member is a fantastic achievement.

( Yes I have had a ****ty season and this is my highlight )

    You're welcome dahat!

    Was a mad group.

    Group B

    BD Infernos 188 v 169 AWESOME 4SOME
    The @FFPundits 182 v 252 Fantasy Unleashed
FSA crème de la Prem' 172 no match this week

We'll finish second by the looks of it.

I know some would call it a lucky escape for the Crème in this group. May I offer an alternate view and praise the great tactical understandings of my mates and myself :D?
We got caught early by the Bangladeshi "bandits" (they had adjusted their teams with WC and huge pts hits beforehand for the very first round of this comp' ; and again played 3 chips (1 TC & 2 BB) for the last round) but we did not panic and got 3 wins in a row, raising our level when it really mattered. And now that we're certain to go through, we gave important gametime to our second strings players. Some kinda mix between Cruyff, Guardiola & Klopp panache and Herrera, Sacchi & Ancelotti pragmatismic efficiency.

Who cares about red arrows and OR. Heads up lads! Aren't we just great :pac: ?!

or just a bunch of lucky basterds  :pac:...

The miracle didn't happen for the Anti Anti-Ramsey Brigade.

Galacticoss trail by 70 points in a match we needed them to win, but even so we're not outscoring the 2 teams ahead of us so it's redundant.

It's a shame we didn't have a bye in the first round, due to my whole never winning the first round of a cup game curse.

    Group D

I'm afraid Boards FSA won't make it... There could be a decider for second place between 3 teams and looks like your overall score won't be enough to top this bunch :(.

Warriors of Wichita Falls 232 v 187 4 Playing FPL Girls
Ten minus Six 152 v 226 Cholo Bangladesh
Boards FSA 157 no match this week

    D.png

    Group G

Same with Anti Anti-Ramsey :(. You won't make up the gap with SRPZ and anyway the latter are hammering Galacticos...

    The Vikings 186 v 196 Paidu FC
    Galacticosss 149 v 221 SRPZ
The Anti Anti-Ramsey Brigade 175 no match this week

    G.png

    Group O

And same again for Ollie Horgan's Army :(. You needed to win your last game. Looks impossible now...

    FF247 165 v 215 FPL Kings Of Bangladesh
    Ollie Horgan's Blue&White Army 166 v 238 BD_War_Dragons
MED17 FC 213 0 no match this week

All FSA teams out of this comp' :(.

I'd not like to sound like a bitter loser but I feel the chips have taken away most interest in it this year. I don't know if people have created teams just for this comp' or what but the amount of chips wasted just for getting a win in this is mindblowing . So the Crème lost because of the BB of one of our opponent. Another used TC on Kane. And another a failed AOA.

I think they should have made return games to make it fairer. Ah well, let's be perfect gents and wish our opponents good fortune up to winning it ;)!

11 pts. Their 17 pts extra BB knocked us out. Another way to look at it is shall we all have followed FFS (C) poll (Lukaku top pick) we'd be through (3 Kane and 1 Lukaku (C) in our team). Actually just spotted they had 2 Dier. Si his goal knocked us out.

Ah well c'est la vie. But I maintain they really should do return games. That'd lower the influence of all these new chips!

All that said, we, the FSA Crème de la Prem', can be very proud of our run in this comp'. 3 wins. 2 defeats exclusively due to our opponents "abusive" (:p) use of the new chips. So, in a fair fight, we're undefeated and shall I dare unbeatable :D!

    Ho Ho Ho.

Harps jolly Christmas mini competition for those of you in the Harps pay league kicks off this week. A chance to watch PREMIER DIVISION football is on offer. Remember what that is CSF?? :D

The competition runs between Week 17-20 and takes in all the games over the festive period. The person with the highest score over the four Gameweeks wins the prize. Should there be a tie at the top of the table, the person with the highest gameweek score in Week 20 takes the pot. Still level, it will be whoever had the highest score in Gameweek 19, etc. etc. until we get a winner. Transfer points will be deducted if more than the permitted amount of transfers are made.

The prize this year will be as follows:
    • A Finn Harps 2016 Season Ticket
    • Two entries into next Finn Harps Last Man Standing Competition
    • Meal Voucher for 2 for Steak Night at the home of Finn Harps Main Sponosrs in McGettigan's, Letterkenny
    • €25 Shopping Voucher for McElhinney's Stores, Ballybofey

Good luck to all. Have a great Christmas and enjoy the Footie and the Fantasy League over the next few weeks.

The Champions League resumes again in Week 21, while the next round of the Cup competition takes place in Week 22. Draws for each of these will be announced over the next couple of weeks.

Was Kane not top pick? He was when I looked at it which is why I went with him.

When I last checked Saturday morning minutes before the deadline Lukaku was marginally ahead but decided to follow the forum since FFS (C) poll did not bring me fortune recently...

I absolutely love that competition, it makes it so much better when all the team info is right there on the FPL site and you're playing some guy in Bangladesh or whatever. In my first year playing FPL I only started on week 3 and got very quickly addicted, that year I was doing well to finish around 400k but I got great enjoyment out of the cup run where I won 8 or 9 matches.
