I don't think Emma does weekend breakfast. She does have a show on RTE pulse on Friday from 4-6pm and she's the BCO of eogan McDermotts weekday show.

Emma power has definitely done weekend breakfast a couple of times... What kind of joke of an national radio station doesn't have a permanent weekend breakfast presenter for almost a year ??????

I would question why 2fm didn't (and now likely won't) go the whole hog and get rid off all the oap weekenders, what the hell is Rick O Shea still doing there ?

Out of curiosity, what age do you consider DJs to be over the hill and ready for the bus pass?

For a station like 2FM targetting the 15-34 market, usually once presenters are a couple of years older than the target audience they are moved on, with a few exceptions. This is how BBC R1 do it anyway, with exceptions for specialist shows (Annie Mac, Pete Tong, Annie Nightingale)

That'll take out quite a few of the existing 2fm DJs then...

Don't necessarily agree with that...they move them on when they sound like they are out of the age range of their audience and out of touch with that demo. On BBC Radio 1, to use the example you gave, Scott Mills is 43 and wont be going anywhere anytime soon, and the rest of the schedule is on average between 31-36 and I don't see that changing too much over the next few years. Scott Mills arguably appeals to the demographic Radio 1 want better than most on the schedule despite being 43. I think for 2FM the problems in this regard lie with The Nicky Byrne Show, Game On and the weekend schedule in particular.

How long was Larry Gogan missing last year ? This is his 8th week in a row off this year

An attractive female who has appeared on Tele in her knickers will soon be replacing one of the oap weekend jocks on 2fm. #truestory

Let me guess - one of the Babe Station girls?

    Now that would be interesting.

She is one of the presenters who has been covering the slot since Colm Hayes' departure. Most weeks it's Tara Stewart. Others have included Carl Mullan, Aifric O'Connell, Stephen Byrne and Conor Behan.

12 weeks off for Larry Gogan now! Chris and Ciara are presenting his show today.

I wonder why don't larrs fill ins do the 60 second quiz anymore ? In the pre Healy era the quiz would continue as normal in Larrs absence

It should also be noted that weekend breakfast has been 48 weeks without an official presenter, they should have hired ray Foley when he was available

Tara Stewart is the closest we've gotten to an official replacement for Colm Hayes.

Is she the one with the English accent ?

Aifric O'Connell is in for Larry Gogan this week. Conor Behan used to be the regular stand in but now it seems to be her.

She is also becoming more prominent on Eoghan McDermotts show lately. I like her, she seems like good craic.

I usually listen to Dara Quilty at that time so I don't get to listen often. But I tend to listen when Dara is off. I preferred Eoghan when he was on Xfm in London (listened on the UPC TV) and didn't have to play the likes of Bieber. Glad you are enjoying the show. He's worked so hard on both sides of the channel to get where he is today, even presenting a celebrity spa programme on Channel 5. His contract actually expires this year, as he revealed in a 2016 interview, but if you're lucky he might renew it. If he doesn't, I think Chris and Ciara might take over Driveby, or possibly Stephen & Blathnaid.

I know it's OT for this thread, but Eoghan McDermot is, IMO, the best presenter on 2FM at the moment, and is the best drivetime show. Didn't know his background at all, interesting to learn he's come via the UK.

There's a video of him on YouTube called "If it wasn't for TG4" where he summarises his career. He started out at just 19 on Cúla4. In another video he and Dara Quilty make a prank call to their radio producer.

Eoghan McDermot is the standard DJ-bot that's on 2FM these days.

Reading stuff off internet for content. And zero control over music, just play whatever the computer says.

Might as well be a computer program presenting most 2FM shows.
