    Thanks! She is a rescue and is nearly two years old, she's definitely a mix because in some photos you can see faint tabby markings on her fur.

    AFAIK all "solid" colour cats still have the tabby gene in them, but the solid gene suppresses the tabby markings. However you'll still see a residual tabby like stripe pattern in their coats in certain lights and from certain angles. It happens in the wild too with black panthers which still have very faint spots if you look carefully.

    The whole coat colour genetics thing in cats is absolutely fascinating, well worth Googling.
