    Jill, sleeping.

Soon to be 15, have a feeling this may have been her last Christmas, as shes a bad cough and seems to have dog dementia on her walk.

Our loyal companion Tintin passed away last year. It was really tough but eventually we felt ready to welcome a new dog.
This June we met Neantóg, then aged around one, through a rescue and we knew he would fit in with our family. He has been settling in really well. He loves nothing more than chasing ball, swimming in the sea and most importantly getting snuggles in the evening. He has a lovely sociable personality and gets on with everyone. We were very lucky to find him. We hope to have as many years with him as our Tintin.

Oh that's just made my day!! So delighted Neantóg found you and I know he'll have an amazing life with you!!
I often think of Tintin. He really was such a gorgeous boy :)

Oh that's fantastic news Capercaillie, I'm so glad to hear that. I'm sure Neantóg will have a fantastic life and will bring you both so much happiness.

    What does Neantog mean?
What a gorgeous dog - LOVE the hairy mixed breeds - he even looks a bit like Tintin?

It actually means nettle, in Irish :D Such a cute name!
I also saw the similarities with Tintin. Both beauties!:)

There is a small story behind Neantóg's name. It is indeed Irish for nettle.

I have a small farm in Mayo. The farm is primarily managed for corncrake. The main habitat for corncrake are large extensive nettle beds. I have sowed just under an acre of nettles.

When our little Tintin passed away he was cremated. We spread his ashes on the nettle bed, his ashes fertilize the nettles and in a way now our Tintin is a nettle. His ashes fertilize the nettle bed to help corncrake.

Neantóg's name continues the Tintin's spirit, but it also reflects his personality- a bit fiery at times! Neantóg is part Westie and he has their stubbornness, but he is also a very affectionate, joyful dog who loves people and other dogs. May he have a happy healthy life.

That's so sweet, hope he has a long life with you, look forward to seeing some of his adventures as I did Tintins
