They won both games last season extremely comfortable. Nzonzi bossed the game. Bojan started a run in his own half and scored a beauty. Walters is a big lummox.

Need to get off the mark with 3 points.

    Tottenham 3-1.

tough game - but I reckon we will sneak it 2-1

I think Stoke will do well this year. Bar a brilliant strike from Coutinho last week, they'd have held Liverpool as well, so it definitely won't be easy. Hopefully our attack actually plays this game, and we can get a goal or two, as they will definitely score.

    2-1 I hope, 1-1 I'd say.

    Hugo

    Walker - Toby - Jan - Rose

    Bentaleb - Dier

    Chadli - Eriksen - Dembele

    Kane.

Poch is fairly regimental in his selections.

I think he'll want us to get a foothold in the game, and sees the likes of Alli, Pritch, Lamela as luxuries, wait until we are comfortable, (2-0) or maybe if we need to chase the game....Just dont see him starting these lads just yet.

Mason maybe in place of Dier,

Ever the Optimist, and with Nidgey looking on from the stands.....

    3-0 Spurs.

    Kane, Toby, Alli.

Don't like Dier in that position. Makes us far too defensive with not enough attacking movement or support up front. Would swap Dier with Mason and maybe Dembele with Alli??

    3 -2 I think. Chadli, Kane, Eriksen. ;)

If anything I would take Bentaleb out and stick Dembele in and put Lamela out wide. Sick and tired of Dembele getting the ball only to pass it back and he just doesn't have that lightning pace needed for a wide position. Bentaleb gave far too much ball away against Utd and was at fault for the goal, Mason is very much the same. Like the look of Alli and hope to see him progress well this year.

Lloris (c), Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Davies; Dier, Mason; Chadli, Dembele, Eriksen; Kane

Vorm, Rose, Trippier, Alli, Bentaleb, Carroll, Lamela

Agree, he was a passenger at Utd.

It looks like Dier screening the back four, Mason in the middle. Chadli on the left, Dembele on the right? And Eriksen supporting Kane.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,927 ✭✭✭Sugarlumps

Chadli could easily play as striker. Knows where the back of the net is.

Happy with our play so far. Eriksens ball was absolutely sick. Lovely finish from Chadli too, hopefully a few more where that came from.

Absolutely no attacking threat since Kane went off. Shows how in need we are of a good forward.

Don't even get me started on Lamela either. He's given away ball, touch is off and has made foul after foul. Couldn't be any more frustrated!

defence organisation and tactics was shocking last week, centre halves everywhere but in the centre. listening to this doesn't fill me with any confidence that pochettino is focused on sorting out the obvious issues.

Can we sell Lamela for some magic beans please. Didn't see the 2nd half. Leicester next weekend jizz....

Honestly didn't do one thing positive. Honestly don't want to see any more of him after that display. We absolutely crumbled!

Jesus christ, losing like that is inexcusable. So many problems out there at the moment.

    Shocking.
    Long season ahead.
1 striker at the club , laughable

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,298 ✭✭✭prodsc

    Brutal 2nd half.
    Chadli not the answer upfront.

To be torn asunder by S. Ireland is embarrasing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,272 ✭✭✭✭tom1ie

How can a club with top 5 aspirations have one striker available at the start of the season?! It's unbelievable how disorganised we are with regards to having some sort of plan for the season. I'm quite worried about this season to be honest. Kane had a super season last year but I can't see that happening again. I think we'll be lucky to finish in the top 10 the way other teams are improving.

We will be competing with them come the end of the season for league position. Shows Stoke have improved and we've gone backwards

Having one striker didn't lose us points in this game, two defensive blunders did

Yes but my point is that we must be the only team in the premier league with 1 striker. I'm highlighting the shambles that we are at the moment.

Oh ffs don't be so dramatic, we are far from a shambles. It's only the second game of the season

Not particularly, no different to last season in retrospect. N'Jie could be dynamite or a floating turd. One decent player could ignite the dressing room.

Transfer window remains open, Levy stated “At the moment it is fairly relaxed. I would anticipate that, as the window goes on, the activity will happen in the last two weeks, but we are trying to do business early where we can.”

I'm trying to stay positive somewhat.

Oh ffs how am I being dramatic? Stop being so naive. Is there another club with one ****ing striker in there team in the league? I'm merely stating facts. (not including ade for obvious reasons)

we scored two goals today with only one striker

the complete disregard for positioning or concentration as a defensive unit is much more of a worry.

We'll get another striker when we can relieve ourselves of the burden no other club has that is milking us for 100k a week.
