Definitely noticing more people opening up to the idea of UL. I've always thought people were a little unfair on Limerick anyway. I live in Cork City and I'm noticing more people are opting for CIT over UCC because of the rates of employment and that

Oh really? Not from Cork,so didn't hear about that at all. What do you mean by the rates of employment? As in graduates in employment from UCC vs CIT?

    Sorry about the late reply!

Yeah UCC vs CIT is what I meant. I think it's mostly to do with the fact that UCC has a humanities department which isn't a very lucrative job market. Also CIT has paid work experience for most, if not all, courses

What are people's mock timetables like?? I have nearly 2 exams everyday and finish in the space of 6 days!!

I'm happy that i get it over with quicker and have a longer mid term break as a result. But also feel like it it could affect my results.
I have exams straight after both English papers. I'm always knackered at the end of an English exam so can't see that going too well :o

We haven't got the exact timetable but I know it's spread out over 8 days. 6 days sounds crazy!

When are people starting the mocks? Mine begin Monday week and are 8 days + orals.

We have our mocks after the midterm so No Fun Allowed over here. The timetable is alright but it's not following the real leaving cert pattern

Although it means you have a week to study, I still think it's better to have the mocks before the midterm as otherwise it overshadows the break and you can't relax properly.

My mocks start on the 9th of February and they will last 7 days. My art mock practical is next Monday and Tuesday. And the mock orals are after the mid term, thank goodness.

My mocks start this Wednesday, I'm definitely gonna be in some trouble when it comes to the English paper 2.

Anyone finish their curriculum? I find we still have 2-3 chapters left in chem or math.

We're nearly finished most of the courses except biology (we don't speak of that disaster) but we've none fully finished yet.

Nearly finished everything but history and maths. Finished physics before Christmas. I'm having trouble wrapping my head around all the study need for biology

Does anyone have any tips for studying the single text (Hamlet)? I never know what notes to make or how to make them.

Does anyone have any tips for studying the single text (Hamlet)? I never know what notes to make or how to make them.

Prepare some notes for yourself on the different characters, some key relationships between them, the major themes, use of imagery and language in the text. You'll find notes on nearly all of that at the back of your Hamlet book! But you're better off making your own notes using them. A good summary would be useful too so that you don't have to read the whole text every time you can't remember what happened! :)

We've just about finished Biology, and we have more than enough done for French. Still have a poet left to do in English. 2 or 3 chapters left to do in physics as well as chemistry. Miles away from finishing the maths course though

This place has really slowed down. Just using the search bar I'm seeing the LC off-topics used to run well over 10,000 posts, we've barely broke 1k and this thread has been on the go for over a year and a half.

We're miles away from finishing English. Still have to do 2 more poets, another mode in comparative and we haven't spent any time on paper one :pac:

Somehow we're almost finished the maths course bar the theorems and constructions.

Yeah the LC forum is really deserted this year. It would have been cool if the LC subreddit had gotten some momentum, Reddit is much more active.

Reflects the general population of boards... I like Reddit but sorting threads by bump order makes more sense to me, people want to talk about something for more than a day

had my oral yesterday & oh my god, loved it ! our examiner was lovely and whenever i walked in i said 'dia duit' and she replied 'hey how's it going?' and continued to talk english until the tape started, so i was more at ease because she seemed so down to earth!

for the poem, i got gehibheann.. couldn't be happier !

okay.. maybe this is 'borderline' cheating, but my examiner let me choose my sraith picture!? so yeah, of-course i was going to choose sraith pictuir 1 about the student playing computer games and not doing enough study and focusing on his grades.. amazing! (:

Just browsing through an old thread maidir leis an scrúdú cainte and noticed some chat about examiners allowing candidates to choose their preferred sraiths or poems at the start of the oral, I remember hearing about this a few years back has anyone heard similar stories or is it tripe?

Anyone here put down Veterinary on their Cao? If so do you think the points will drop with this new requirement?

Grr, NUIG accommodation is all booked up already...put myself on the waiting list for Corrib. It sold out so fast! Any hope of me getting a place, do you think?

I'm on the waiting list too, I'll be crossing my fingers until August! Annoying how they opened it at 10 o'clock on a school day - it was booked out at 3 for me!

I had my art craft work mock exam today, it went well.
I have hardly done any study for the mocks though. Surely I'm not the only one out there :P
I have actually made out a study timetable for the mid-term onwards, I really need to get into the habit of studying. I find it hard to study after school though since I'm so exhausted.
