    Back now.

If you are going on what is in the centre it's the anti-roll bar, looks fine.
    Droplink looks fresh :)

Ya it's in the dead centre, above the rubber casing. If you look close you can see a brown rust spot where it's been catching

Surely the only thing that would allow that kind of movement in an anti-roll bar is totally shagged D bushings?
That combined with a compression of the suspension may make it touch.

That's my take, check your D bushings further inside on the anti-roll bar and the droplinks while you are at it :)

Ah ffs, it's really starting to brown my hole. Can I just scrap the cnut already

Maybe it's the way I parked it, on a weird sideways slope that caused it to catch.

Still haven't sorted the wheel catching the inner body when on full lock, they thought it was a bent tie rod, but no. There's something up with the whole front of that car, and nobody can seem to put their finger on it. I'm so tempted to bring it to the main dealers and they'll know straight off.

If that is all happening on one side then I'd say you have a bent wishbone putting everything out!

But you saw sense and bought the right car.....twice! Cip4 could always buy an ST 5 door!

I think the st would be a step too far I don't think you can say they are tame even tipping around. Plus I will still be doing a good bit of driving if I end up doing night college I cork twice a week and from what I can gather you wouldn't ever see 35mpg in an st but maybe I'm wrong.

What do you mean by tame though? Like my car has a good few extra's and is comfy, if I swoon along it's a lovely place to be, but if you want to it will go fast and do it well.
I suppose I am wondering on what you mean by tame really, any car can be relaxed when you want it to be, your foot decides when it's not to be!

If everything is out on one side though that is good enough reason to think that, if the arb is far enough back to hit part of the tunnel it might also explain why the wheel is hitting a part of the arch that it couldn't previously have!

It's still a focus 5 door sure! But ya they aren't good on petrol to be fair.
I don't think they are too mad day to day fine as a daily like it's not like it's off the wall. Can be mad though with little encouragement!

@NM: t'will be the anti roll bar bushes same happened on my yolk. There was a terrible intermittent knocking about on uneven ground. Once they were changed the noise was gone, but then that highlighted some defective bushes in the rear. I was ready to abandon it somewhere tbh...

If the arb bushes are bad there may be evidence of it.

Tame as in if you just want to get somewhere with some peace and quiet tipping along at 100kmh that the car won't be roaring at you with a loud exhaust or won't be like a rock on the road. I mean a lot of heavily modified jap cars for example are never tame as even driving them easy there is a huge amount of engine and exhaust nice constant loud background hum.

Where as from what I can gather if you were driving along in a gti with the radio on you wouldn't notice much difference compared to any golf that's tame.

Exactly and it's the same with a standard ST.
In fact it's the same with all the jap cars you speak of.
They all do normal driving quietly etc unless you modify the exhausts etc.

You could buy any standard performance car that will match what you want.
You need to modify it to end up with what you are trying to stay away from.

So worrying about the tame angle isn't really a worry at all.

In other news I thought I'd be cute and book the car in early for a service and get it done Christmas week. Service manager said everyone seemed to have the same idea booked out till January. So I took a slot for first week of January which is grand. I thought December would have been quite.

Infairness it will be the first bit of money I've spent on it in 7 months outside of nightbreaker and Reg plate bulbs. Well it also needed a wheel bearing but that was a warranty job. Will need a timming belt mid next year too and tyres in the summer too. By then I hope to have decided what I'll do with it.

    I don't think so unfortunately.

On the bright side, I found the hidden subliminal message in that video. :pac:

Picked up the Passat this evening. First impressions is its pretty quick car. Love the pick up especially in 3rd. Seats are a bit uncomfortable but I think it just takes getting used to.
Good consumption too. Will get some pics up once its clean again.
Anyone have some tips how to keep the dpf in proper working order or should I just get it removed?

Drive it and drive it well, poodling around is the worst thing for them. Personally I'd wait and try your best to keep it right.
The second it blocks rip it out!

Which model? I had a B6 and it used to take about 30 seconds before I could stand up straight after getting out of it. On the plus side, the car had the best gearbox I ever drove.

I'd agree here. I don't see why people have this need to remove perfect DPF's that are causing no trouble. The Octavia has never once shown any dpf warning in 4 years same with my Megane you wouldn't know either even had them. Drive the car on and give it plenty of long drives and you will have no issues. The issues lie in people who never leave towns I their diesels and never drive them above 2k rpm to save fuel. I think never driving on a car up through the gears at least occasionally (obviously when the engine and oil is warmed up) is one of the worst things you can do to an engine as they just get all blocked up.
