On an unrelated note, I heard on the radio there that the ESB are starting charging for the on street chargine points €17 a month starting in the new year. Still a small fee, but will leave the love electric crew a bit less smug.

Not to start a debate, but there are/were some people here that would fit into that kind of show with similar kind of carry on without having to reach too far... :)

Ah now, no need to talk about yourself like that

    :)

So after collecting the focus from the garage there, put a new threading plate for the latch on the back left door (so it works and stays closed), fixed my dodgy handbrake, and put a track rod end in the front. Unfortunately, it was left a too late, and the inner side of both front tyres were eaten down, so much so that I need 2 new front tyres. Sickened to the last, I always checked the thread to see if they were wearing correct, but only along the thread bar, I never really went in to feel the inner side. Debating whether to get Michelins again, seeing as these only did 6.5k miles, and there isn't a lot of thread left in them. Must be my driving that's eating them, I do an awful lot of windy roads driving, harsh cornering, sharp braking. I have to decide for Saturday regardless.

I was more covering bases for the overly familiar but mystery re-regs that seem to be a common feature here. ;)

But be paranoid if you like. :P

Awww that's no fun.... At least be upfront about it and be ballsy enough to name names ;)

You know nothing about being paranoid.... :p

    Anyone watching rte2 now?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,792 ✭✭✭Ded_Zebra

Just watching this now. Perfectly summarises (to me) what is wrong with "car enthusiasts" in this country. Scumbags.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,280 ✭✭✭✭Autosport

Ya see I love cars and I love drifting etc and I was a car modifier but I never acted the eejit like some of them

There was a lot of reckless interbreeding going on 20 years ago by the look of that programme,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,280 ✭✭✭✭Autosport

I was often at organised cruises and they were great and then at one or two there was always one who ruins it for everyone

It's like 2007 all over again watching this. The fella on now with the yard full of cars made a small fortune off Christmas wreaths. He was even on the apprentice :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,792 ✭✭✭Ded_Zebra

Actually the first guy interviewed in part 2 was what I would consider a real enthusiast. Good to see them interview someone like it.

And them on and your man right now is why everyone gets a bad name, what an idiot. Big difference between the genuine car enthusiasts and muppet boy racers but unfortunately this program has now tarnished everyone with the same bad brush now.

Was waiting for the Paul Walker reference

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,792 ✭✭✭Ded_Zebra

I actually think they did a good job of showing that there is a difference between real enthusiasts and people diffing in a crossroads. Pity that it feels like there are about 10 people diffing in crossroads for every 1 real enthusiast. Ah well.

As far as I can tell the only reason you would go diffing is because your car is too ****ty and slow to drift.

Remember I ordered wheels and they never turned up...that was him.

And that guy from Dublin out in Ballymount, what a plank having races during the day with the public around.

Can't wait to get my car back the e46 is starting to drive me mental.

Can't fit the buggy in the boot so can't go far with the kids and after spending a 100 euro in petrol this week on a car without the benefits of power I just can't wait to be rod of it.

I did actually just for a short ten minute spin not that I'd ever buy a convertible but was actually a nice experience to drive open top and a lot warmer than i thought.

The soft top looks a lot better with the roof down to. Much better lines.

HAve been tempted to go full on cock mode and drIve home from work along the n7 in the morning with the roof down :pac:

Absolutely fantastic video, honestly he's such a talented chap, must be the pistachios!

I'm not sure I'll be represented at the next one unfortunately! Home at Christmas though!

Also the chap in the Falken Motorsport S14 2JZ is James Deane, pretty sure he's one of the best drifters in Europe currently. It's a pity his achievements aren't celebrated more!

He is very talented, he needs to get more credit for the work he puts in, its serious quality!

Drifting is still very niche, he's big among us but to Joe Soap he's unheard of.
There are a hundred fantastic drifters in Ireland though, Deane is only one of them!

Think he may be throwing together something from what he filmed onboard the e36, he is already going to Auto Heroes 2.
I told him to get in touch with Dave Egan and see what he thinks!

My god that is some praise, I'll have to show him that, he'll melt :)

The chap was trying to give me money for bringing him out for a session last weekend, now he's trying to figure what I want in parts before next month to buy some!

We came to agreement that all that will be coming for passenger rides (about 5) are going to buy the passenger harness between them. I have the seat got.

I think it was cool that they would all do that as a kind of thanks or whatever!

They can't see that I love having someone out in the car with me, its most of the fun seeing their reactions :)
