In the space on six months my car has picked up a dent on each front door a dent on the wing and 3 marks on the door handles where the paint is gone from trolleys and doors. All from car parks and I don't even use them that much and always park away from the door. Someone put a properly deep ding in the pannel crease of the door on my dads golf which is very noticeable some paint gone too. When this sh!t happens I think why would I bother spending any kind of substantial money 25k plus on a car that that everyone else is out to make sh!t off. It's very sickening especially for you mm with such a nice pristine car.

Surprisingly my Focus hasn't got a single dent from other car doors or trolleys. It's really tough keeping it clean though. I literally park on the top floor of every car park by myself.

On another note I'm actually surprised at the amount of Garda cars on the M50 lately.

I drove the M50 and N7 both ways at different times today and both times I had a Garda car nearby me. I've also seen cars being pulled for hogging the overtaking lane in the past month like twice.

Hopefully they keep it up. I think it's much better than checkpoints plus judging by the Garda Twitter page, most cars that they pull end up being uninsured, out of tax or NCT expired!

I think it has gotten to the stage where one has to park like s dick, i.e across 2 spaces, to avoid eejits like these. Suppose some handi will still park incorrect beside you.

I drove from newry to Dublin city center via m50 then down the m7 to Tipp and didn't see one garda car

I wonder what the story is with this vw garage there are not too many vw garages that would put a 2007 golf with 260k km on the forecourt. They seem to be always at it I see them selling boras for 2k before not even too the trade from what I can gather.

I always thought (or have always been told) that Volkswagen must trade out a vehicle if it doesnt meet certain standards (i.e. age, mileage, condition etc.) but it seems that both that garage and Al Hayes Volkswagen keep them and sell them themselves?

Al seems to have a serious amount of early mk5 high millers he was selling a mk6 golf with 300k km on it ffs. Seems there is nothing that doesn't meet his standards. It's suppose to be madness down there 100s of cars everywhere.

We pass his yard when competing in Tynagh, its utterly ridiculous. His forecourt, field beside it, the house beside it and his own house are covered in cars.
I mean no room anywhere, nose to tail everywhere!

Oh I've heard from people that have gone there that you'd want to be giving them loads of notice or else they will struggle to get the car you want out to drive. I mean would he not say fcuk it we will reduce some of the stock that there ages and clear half of it. I mean even back in the boom his place was like that. My grandmother bought a new golf there in 2006 and she had to park the trade in on the road a good bit away. Absolute madness having that many cars with no real organisation.

Hayes is meant to be an absolute pain in the ass to deal with if you are buying anything not new.

When my dad was buying his golf last year we rang about 10 dealers them being one and they showed little interest never got back to us and we're very expensive on the prices of the 3 demos they had. Yet the place he bought of literally couldn't do enough for him honestly they really pulled out all the stops. If I was buying a new vw they would be the very first place id ring even if they are in the middle of no where.

I always find that surprising some dealers are useless at being helpful or trying to seal the deal or even just give you information on a car. You'd go into places and the salesman would be chatting away among themselves you'd nearly feel bad for asking them a question about a car :pac:

Imagine paying €6k for it. How much reliable/ usable life us left in it? And that interior is desperate, about as much style as a tesco value microwave. Some people will do anything for a badge.

Ye the baselines are terrible plain at least the comfortline has some chrome style bits and far nicer seats. Plus that is a bxe engine so it would be very touch and go as to how much life is left in that engine plenty have failed by then if it was an older 1.9tdi engine I wouldn't be as worried about the mileage.

Al Hayes is supposed to be opening in Ennis selling skodas, where bill Cullen sold (not many) Renaults.

Hayes has another place in Tuam, circa 150ish cars I'd say, wedged into a tiny forecourt. No real office there at all, just a tiny, what looks like, single bay garage.

I know a fella who traded in a 2005 golf not long back, it was a 1.4, but all colour coded, and had the gti monzas on it, looked like a gti, but was really a 60 brake one :pac: Sold within 2 weeks.

This drives me absolutely insane. From the car to the left of the photo all the way up was completely empty so I parked at the end as you can see. I come back to my car 10 minutes later and this fvcken fool of a motorist is literally squeezed up against me. Lovely mark left on my front passenger door handle from the passenger getting out. Jesus fvcking christ

Fcuk man that's a load of balls .

I'm convinced these people are so bad at driving and parking that they can't judge the lines so instead use other cars as a barometer.

Would be interesting if the cameras on The Premier were pointing towards your car and if you were able to get access to the footage.

Is The Premier used much these days?

it's like they did it on purpose parking that close. why didn't they just go in the middle. it's like when you're at a urinal and there are 10 others free but some weirdo comes up and uses the one right beside you

Ironic from the Toyotafanboi about people doing anything for a badge! :D

That particular car isn't actually that badly priced. You'd give €5.5k for it, I'd say it was probably sold new by them and has a full history. If that's the case there's thousands of km of life left in it. Admittedly it's boggo spec but something tells me that car spent it's life on the N3 commuting to Dublin. Basic spec aside it looks like a clean car.

Id imagine they're selling it on behalf of a customer or something

just posted pics of my Focus and Vectra in the post a pic thread :P

one of the reasons i enjoy Toyotas, particularly Jap models is because the spec is usually fairly comprehensive given the model.

i just can't see the attraction to a silver baseline Golf, 105bhp(?) with a quarter of a million on the clock for €6k, even CIP4 said it mightn't be a great idea and he loves Golfs :pac:

you know yourself, if you had €6k in your hand to buy a car and were willing to stomach 2.0 tax on the cc system and needed a diesel, why would you buy that car? the only reason is to say you own a Golf.
