So dropped the car off to get the bits done and in with the Mechanic was a Porsche 3.6 he's been working on that hasn't been driven in 6 years owner forgot he had it

When he rang Porsche about parts they offered him 200k for it owner said no.

Must try get a pic when I'm in next gorgeous car.

I wouldn't get too excited yet. They don't seem to anything actually done yet apart from talk about it.

No idea, but eflow are open until either 10 or 11 so worth ringing them.
If you use the toll less than twice a month, it's worth getting the video account for the m50, you get 50c off the toll, never have to worry about fines and no maintenance fee.
If you use it more than twice a month, a tag is better, Euro of the toll but there's a 1.70 monthly fee, but the conveniance for other tolls around the country makes it so worth it

I reckon you'd be okay paying it anytime between now and then.. I used the motorway a bit during the summer and last month I went through it twice but forgot to pay, but I only got fined for going through it once so I must have payed for one of the trips in advance.

the side they've just finished 'fixing' is worse than when they started, no idea how they managed to actually make it worse

I went from a VW Passat to an Alfa for reliability. Let me know how the reverse trip goes :p

You can get the odd one that causes trouble but most passers that era were very reliable. Upto last week a neighbour of mine had a 2006 1.9tdi Passat from new very high mileage on it the only thing he ever done to it outside of servicing, timming belt, tyres was one set of heater plugs and a battery honestly he couldn't even believe it himself original clutch even and car was far from babied he sold it in perfect working order and bought a golf.

You'll get the same with golf mk5 for examples a lad will say it broke his heart and it was crap which for him it was but the other majority of people they are highly reliable for. I suppose you'll get the odd bad one with any car. But Christ it would be some achievement for it too be less reliable than that Honda honestly I don't know how you'd describe bears luck with that one.

The "archaeological remains" they found recently are just unfortunate 21st century folks who expired from boredom and were covered over about the time they first started the roadworks there. Well ok, it has been going on several decades now at this stage so they could be from the mid 90s.

I would say that I seriously pissed off the gods or was a toilet brush in a previous life. Feckin thing doesn't start now either which I suspect is the alternator.
My 01 156 was miles more reliable than it and so was the s40 which i had before the Honda.
Pity tbh cause its a lovely cruiser in general.

I had the exact same thing with my Pisshat. I hated it in the end. I know several people with similar stories but as you rightly point out this must be taken in context of how many have been sold overall. Like bear and his Honda not a day or week went by without a stupid issue arising, some very expensive.

Still, I hated it and it left a bitter bitter taste.

Honestly I don't know how you put up with it this long if it was my car I would have gotten rid of it a long long time ago. If I still had it I would now be a paranoid mess who would be slowly turning crazy. I mean I tolerate a certain amount with any used car they are secondhand at the end of the day if a few things went wrong I wouldn't mind too much. But the day I lose faith in the car and have no confidence in it being reliable is the day I get rid of it even selling cheap at a loss id rather loss money than put up with a lemon on a daily basis.

Like with my focus the day it left me stranded for 5 hours and decided to cut out at 120kmh in the overtaking lane was the day it's days were numbered and from then on I had no trust in it. So I sold it on at a bit of a loss and I was straight up about its issues and new owner had a ford mechanic inspect and was happy that he would be able to sort it's problems. Fastforward on I was very lucky with my golf and the Megane has been practically flawless touch wood but if that started causing a lot of trouble I'd have it gone it's just the way I am.

Got my rear coilovers in tonight in the black dark!
Thought there was no need lately as it was the height I wanted.
With the trackday coming up I said I'd put them in.

Well all the roll that I didn't really feel in the back is gone, so so planted now and the back is way more convincing, nice few cold hours made worth while :)

I would have been the same if I hadnt had a baby and all finances tied up in it's care and the mortgage etc so I kinda put changing the car on the backfooting. But now that things are improving I'm able to finally get rid.

Ah ok that's fair enough obviously your family and mortgage has to come first. I sometimes forget about that I kind of hope to be in the opposite boat next year onwards relatively decent salary and almost no outgoings or commitments no kids, mortgage, wife. How long that will last I don't know I'd like to make the most out of it while I can I'll be happy to get out of the no earning college life. Only for cars I'd have nothing to spend money on :pac:

Anyone know how complicated it would be to change the aircon dials on the e60?

Mines pre lci and the dials are shocking looking would there be much involved in changing it over for lci model dials?

Oh man, I remember changing my rear shocks and having that feeling. Never realised they were shot until I changed the wheels to wider BBS, the tightness and confidence it gave was amazing once the koni sports were in!

Drive to work this morning was great, i had 6 month old KYB Excel G shocks and still there is a massive difference.
A little harsher but not bad, it doesn't roll in corners at all :)

    Can't wait for saturday :)

Aul fella is looking at a Saab 93 Turbo. First generation with low miles, one owner.

Yay or Nay? Can't remember much about them. I know they'd the solid Saab B engines in them.

    Edit. 2.0l.

Did they suffer from oil sludge issues?

Might have someone coming to look at the Honda tonight. Wish me luck

Just looked for 630i's on DoneDeal and my god there's some heaps of shite up there. I bet it's a tough car to find for a good price. 80% are completely wrecked, probably beyond saving, and the rest are massively over priced. Not that it's something I'd seriously consider... MX5's of the 2007-> generation is something I've been looking at... despite being poor and not able to buy.

Go big or go home. Forget the 630i... V8 all the way!

Aren't the V8 6 series meant to be a bit of a pig? I remember reading the smaller engines were nicer to drive as the larger engines were old and heavy as fook.

Yeah I remember someone on hear saying that, after owning one or the other. The V8 engines of that era have plenty of issues afaik.

I watched Ron Howard's "Rush" the other evening on DVD, about the rivalry between Nikki Lauda and James Hunt in the early and mid 1970s. Cracking good show, nicely cast, acted and filmed I thought. Recommended.
