Still a steal for the 16gb model.

Sorry to hijack. I've been thinking of buying a nexus for a while and am torn between this and the 7. I would prefer the bigger screen on the 9 but for standard surfing/streaming would the 7 do? There's 130e in the difference.....
    Thanks

The 7 is starting to feel it's age with lollipop, The 9 is also more future proof, It's well worth the extra bit epically at this price

Is it likely more 32GB models would be available at this price? Broke the screen on my 7 recently and would like to get one of these, not sure whether 16GB is good enough now though...

Its not. The lenovo yoga 2 tablet that was posted here for €159 was a "steal".

Good to hear thanks. Would 16g be ok for what I want it to do? (Sorry for all the q's!!!)

The 16Gb versions are €300 on Amazon. Getting the 32Gb version for anything less than that is a steal.

I've had mine since launch and i still haven't run into any storage issues, as with everything it all depends on what you do.

Some people like Nexus devices, and at a saving of 130 i call it a steal

For just surfing and streaming? Yes.

Still using my n7 but like another poster said these tablets are showing their age now with lollipop, I don't know how I've held back from just smashing it in frustration due to freezing etc., and I'm tempted to upgrade to the n9 now...if the 32Gb version was in stock at that price I'd definitely buy it.

Ah poo, missed another Nexus 9 deal. Hopefully there'll be another somewhere soon.

Really hope the 32GB comes back into stock soon.

    Cracking price.

I had the same problem with my Nexus 7 2012 and got a decent performance improvement from flashing with Cyanogenmod.

Agreed I'm running a different custom rom based on kitkat. Nearly everyone I know with a 2012 nexus 7 regrets upgrading to lolipop

I actually posted this deal in the main Argos thread 5 days ago. There was good stock of the 32GB around at that stage.

Lots of people say similar. It's a disgrace we have to even run a modified version of the OS for it to be an actually enjoyable experience though.

Have a original nexus 7, it ran slow after upgrade to lollipop. To get it running smooth just do a factory reset, it runs fine now.

If they raise the price or don't honour reservations they will be left with tonnes of tablets that may never sell!

So it's not just me. I use my phone more now even if the Nexus is within reach.

Ah, if only i wasnt such a fool, i didnt realize it was so simple!

-What if i want to stream a movie/video located on the nexus? Ive tried the android screen cast and its not great, sound sync issues mainly.

-What about the tons of apps and services that simply dont have that little chromecast button?

    Download Allcast or Local Cast.

I can confirm this, I checked too and there were zero in stock anywhere.

I have a confirmation email at this price, but this price is only valid until tomorrow, I hope they honour the price when it comes back into stock...

Just use screen mirroring, works great - https://support.google.com/chromecast/answer/6059461?hl=en

This. I've reserved/ordered one as I loved my Nexus 7 until I broke the screen, even with the Lollipop hiccup (resolved after a factory reset). I wanted to get something similar with a slightly bigger screen for reading but this was always much dearer than I was prepared to pay. If the price goes back up, I don't think I'll be collecting it.

I bought the 16g yesterday and am thrilled with it. I'm not a heavy user so its perfect and the screen quality and size are amazing

How do you find the home/volume buttons? Are the speakers decent?

Why didn't you order and wait until the 32GB was in stock. Its the same price?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 1,104 ✭✭✭Niemoj

I hope Argos will honour this price, it says can be ordered for collection for all stores but won't be delivered until 24 - 27 July and the current price is only valid until tomorrow.

Here's hoping they honour it! Currently using a Nexus 7 2013 which has served me well but it's on its last legs now at this stage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37 psawyer

The sound is good. I watched a movie on it no problem. The reason I didn't wait for the 32g is that Im not sure if they'd honour the price and I'm crap arguing and also I decided I had to have one immediately! I suppose I could order one and try to exchange if they'd let me!!

I rang Argos and they said if its reserved at the sale price I should get it at the sale price even though the promotion will be up they will honour the price.

Just spotted the Samsung Tab A 9.7" in the DID Sale catalogue page 11 for €299 - seems to be about £260 on Amazon?? Comes with Lollipop and seems a newish model - could be a good alternative or am I missing something obvious? :o

    edition.pagesuite-professional.co.uk//launch.aspx?pbid=c43ae37c-8bfb-49c0-af34-a696fc2d60df

Edit: sorry, I see it is €280 on Argos (reduced from 320) so obviously not much of a bargain - apologies!

Reserved it and it's available the 27th to 29th of July.

Let's just hope they honour the price now and I just might pick one up.

Hopefully they'll keep this price but probably now.

We'll find out tomorrow I guess.

So it's the 22nd today and the price @€;279 is still in effect!

Maybe it proved popular and they're keeping it at that price.

I reserved one but just had a look at reviews and there's a lot of bad ones. Mostly about the screen, light bleeding issues. Maybe this is why they are reduced.
I was going to get the lenovo tab 2 10inch but for the little bit extra this looks better, just the reviews are turning me off now.
Has anyone heard of any problems?

It's still a bargain, but clearly a mis-price. Real price should be €450-500.
