the recently published report has caused controversy for people in south Kilkenny

Not many from S. Kilkenny from what I read ..... mostly Kilkenny urban area.
The minister said he understands the very strong attachments people have to their own county and agreed there are some frightened people in south Kilkenny

I am sure there are frightened people in all areas, but I question if this proposed extension causes anyone to be frightened.
He urged people to make submissions on the matter to his department, which can be done until the St Patrick's day deadline.

My reading of the above is that Waterford people need to make submissions else the Minister could ignore this report.

Agreed, people need to make submissions, report and recommendations already done, this makes sense, don't let a 40 or so gaa colour blinded Waterford haters ruin a sensible decision.

I agree with the first part of this, everyone needs to make submissions so a true picture can be built up... whether be for or against the recommendation.

the second part... jesus u can feel the hatred and contempt

Best to just ignore him Max. If he's going out of his way to come onto the Waterford forum and spit venom then he's not worth dealing with. If he's ignored then he'll go back to the lifeless Kilkenny board soon enough.

And the Kilkenny obsession goes on and on and on...funny thing is I think that poster said previously they're not even from Kilkenny....

If you can't stomach others opinions that may be different to your own. may be you should take your own advice and leave.

LOL!!!!! You are the Kilkenny lads on the WATERFORD forum telling us we have an obsession with Kilkenny? Come on now, think about that. How many of us boys do you see up there?

If I remember correctly Robtri said he was from Dublin. Tell me, what's a Dub doing spending his time writing specifically about Kilkenny on a Waterford forum. Bit fishy isn't it...

Guys can you please stop the handbag fighting, attack the post not the poster please.

If all you can muster is slagging people from Waterford /Kilkenny or the forums on boards.ie then really you're not adding anything to this thread

Don't worry to much about Road_High.He is there to fight the good fight no matter how detached from reality it is:D He thinks there is a population explosion in North Wexford and North Carlow! Whereas it is because of Dubliners being priced out of their own city and temporarily buying property in those areas. Ghost Estates and Vacancy rates because of holiday homes on a huge scale do not deter him. Nor the huge social catastrophe that will come down the line in the future. It is the usual miserly  attitude that deems it to be Ok to destroy all around you as long as you think can make a short term profit. It doesn't matter how many facts, proof or historical  examples you provide they will go rabid rather than face reality. The Kilkenny People is doing it in print as week speak. You are not dealing with rational thinking here.
Read the banking inquiry and see what the root causes were! Bad Loans! Property Bubble!.......Poor Planning!
The delicious irony is this person doesn't like Bobby Aylward or Fianna Fáil. You can't blame him/her for that really as  they did destroy the country through.....Poor Planning! Him and the prima donna John McGuinness are their defenders.
I wonder what the tags for the Kilkenny People website are these days? Hitler! Hitler! Not an inch! Not an inch! Land Grab! Land Grab!
Ian Paisley and Jim Allister in their most rabid beetroot headed rages are the closest I have seen to this in Ireland.[/quote]

For Waterford and region grow, compete and be counter balance to Dublin, Waterford and region need things like infrastructure, lN24,n25, proper ida support for region, boundary review being implemented, proper medical care and education investment.Fair to say, we have deficit in a lot of these areas which need to be addressed.that's what I submitted anyway.

Was that before the deadline Max or can you tell me where to make a submission now? I think now is the most important time to do it.

Can we please not mention KK on the forum going forward. Apparently just because we bring them up (in discussions actually involving them) then it means we bigots.

This was being discussed on RTE radio this morning - no light just heat.

Listened to Damien Tiernan's report on RTE News and it's more 'colour piece' guff. Nobody going to stop Jim Kennedy flying his KK flag on his farm in Kilculliheen but no cogent argument offered against the boundary extension. (lovely view of the river & the city by the way Jim 😊). Then cut to some 'wan' in Lisduggan insulting Kilkenny people in a colourful and humorous fashion. Ho ho ho what a laugh the RTE News editor must have had looking at us simple people with our little problems in the S.E. which he/she could slot in after the serious news.
Still can't find anyone from/living in Ferrybank articulate enough to offer a pro-boundary extension opinion Damien???? Same ****e as Sean O'Rourke last week.

1.I think you're right, rte or media couldn't really give a hoot about it and don't know skwat about it.
    2. In their defence, its insane that its up for debate/controversy, it should have been done decades ago, all the logic suggests so.

This is the nature of the beast. Ordinary people will fall into that trap and risk getting into a slagging match. However the difference is with political leadership. Kilkenny politicians and their cheerleaders in the Kilkenny People openly try to inflame and sow division and see it as a means to ends.  They have no ethical problems with using Nazi slurs and comparisons to Hitler as well as whipping up hysteria. And that is just what we hear. God knows what they are saying on a one to one basis. I heard a woman from Slieverue on Pat Kenny talking and it sounded like someone told her the she will be forced to move. She definitely seemed to think that. The justification for the extension at least has its basis on a rational argument and fact based evidence.  Opponents don't.

They have no fact based evidence. The closest thing they have is the idea that Waterford nominally has enough land in theorey to build for decades on the South side of the river continuously spreading further and further away from the city center. Ignoring the fact that this has been a recipe for disaster across Ireland in all of the cities and countryside as well.
