i believe some of the options are just rooms in a persons house. They may offer breakfast. this was the case when my stayed in one.

This one going on about the standards of the B+B's has her head in the clouds. Most of the B+B's I have stayed in over the last few years have been very basic, with a greasy fry up in the morning. I now happily pay for a hotel room, and there is not much in the price difference.

I also prefer hotels. At least you don't have to put up with a nosy landlady asking you all sorts of questions during your breakfast!

Normally it's two per room, so that's €70 per room per night!

And coming back there slaughtered after a rake of pints waking them up trying to get the key in the door usually means a hostile atmosphere the next morning :D

Your breakfast while you stay here will always consist of home produce - fresh eggs from our hens, sausages and bacon (if available) from our own pigs. Homemade organic bread, scones, jams and chutneys are also included.

I really want to go there

I guess when B+B owners see PBH arrive they charge him a supplement for being such a crashing bore.

The B&B representative reminds me of a publican moaning about cheap booze on sale at the supermarket.

The fear I have with the Airbnb is the owners might try to wreck your head too much with questions and chats you don't want.

She came from Missouri and married Seamus from dingle, cos he has a farm

I think I'll give this AirBnB a go. I could offer a visitor an authentic Irish living experience......ie. Make your own bed, (if you can get the dog out of it), make your own breakfast if you can find anything to eat.......:D

does he do much "punting" in Amsterdam?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,886 ✭✭✭✭Roger_007

Why don't the B&B people just register with AirBnB, and get their share of the business, instead of just whinging about it.

All of a sudden, I'm gone off the idea of putting my house up on Air B&B, in case this lad ever calls me to stay.

At the end of the day I am afraid those wanting the B&B are at the end of their days.

NAMA should stick up their entire portfolio of properties on Airbnb and sit back with the cash rolling in.

That Airbnb was a good topic.
    they couldn't buy that publicity
