Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Going tomorrow for a look, tyres are 80% + anything I should look out for? How much commission is paid?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,671 ✭✭✭kay 9

Some of the roughest machines I've ever seen.

A few 140 160-90s look in good condition, what sort of money would they be looking at?

id say a decent one of those would always be worth what you paid for it. Those big Fiats are camels of yokes and I bet they would do anything you ask of them. they would be a fine job for a big slurry tank or trailed harvester. plenty of weight and horsepower

It'd be 20k+ with vat and transport etc etc but isn't it a beaut and so original in comparison. I admit I'm a sucker for detail. Them yokes bnm have look like they were pulled through bog and got severe abuse. Each to there own though, they have there uses

and id say they would still be look around after all these big modern deeres and new Hollands have passed on

Had a look at them one nice 140-90 with no starter, rough gear but a bit of a lucky bag. Didn't stay around for auction as I'd say plenty of interest, and no time for fixing up a machine till winter

We were there-the fords made around 3k each on average.low hours but they were rough. You wouldn't be too confident in what you were getting. There was a fiat we were interested in but it was 7400 with no injectors. Went too price 28% with VAT and agents commission. There were some bargains on other stuff if you lived close enough.

Was that including com and vat L1985, they were all missing key parts which wouldn't fill ye with confidence!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,018 ✭✭✭L1985

No, the commission and tax was 23% and 5%on top. I'm not too upset over not getting it-too much of a gamble. They were fairly badly used. The worst part was 2 hours of wheels being auctioned. Can't say I found it that riveting!!

They used to have a fleet of 135s with a track instead of a back wheel. I heard they buried them all.

Sorry no lot nos l but wondering what the fiats made in general??

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,018 ✭✭✭L1985

Lot 381 made €2350. The fords in general made between1700 and4800. Average was around 3200 mark.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,018 ✭✭✭L1985

Sorry just reread that. We only saw one fiat new Holland auctioned the red one 1998. That made 7400. The other fiats were too big for us so we left.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,112 ✭✭✭Redriddick

Jasus that seems like mad money for a cab and backend

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,018 ✭✭✭L1985

Yeah two guys took it on. Mad thing was the first one went for 1800 and that one you could probably get to working order! You really needed to examine those tractors properly to see what you were getting!

I was there to see it selling and at the time I though it was a complete rob, and I still think it is.

Commission is a bit steep too.

She made €6800 plus commission and vat

Them tractors were a rob. Rough 4610's made over 3K. Clapped out battered rusty fiats making 6or 7k. All plus vat and commission.
They'd be dear if they made half what they did!

I'd agree with you on that one white clover. I stayed there like a clown until the end to see all the tractors/plant. The fiat/new holland L65 at 7400 plus all fees was as dear a tractor as I've seen in a long time. It's not like an L65 would be a major seller and have a good one of them let alone that one. And the MF 3645 I'd rate no better at 6500 as not a major seller either and have a good one of them. As the saying goes "expect the unexpected " at auctions!!!

What did those truck trailers make on the left as you walk into the yard??

Both sold for about €4000 each plus commission and vat

Was shocked myself at condition of machines, thought the fords looked a bit better but I never even hopped into any of them. Anyways bought a fiat privately since, was able to drive it and check it out properly

It's fun there just just to see, not with the view of buying. Thats the worst of it, they don't leave them running for long and you can't check out everything in them to see if it's working right.

Last auction I was at was merlin motors 10 yrs ago, enjoyed but the time of hammer didn't suit the cows! But still enjoyed seeing 20 fords and 6 fiats. Wonder how the jd s got on?

Interesting to see what they went for. The JD 4055 was much nicer to spend the day in compared to a Ford 8210 or TW15 of the same era. Full power shift year box and a very comfortable air seat in the Jd!

The 135's look pretty tasty :).

It looks like the service policy was, pull tractor in to garage grab bonnet and horse it over the nearest clamp of turf never to be seen again, big fans of the olde Air Cooled method id say

i know its probably the last thing you'd think of looking at some of the tractors but would they have tax books? and what would be required to get a tractor taxed? i presume they don't have a reg plate?

Being bord na mona state owned equipment I would assume that all that would be in order (??)

why do none of them have reg plates? only fleet plates, they wouldn't have been on the road as such

The saying do as I say not as I do would be bord na mona's template, have first hand expirence dealing with them and it's a proper glorified semi - state can't get fired quango.....
Wouldn't be unknown for tractors to get reddend on a Fri morning so lads could clock of early on full pay of course , and maybe pull another few days while the "mechanics/fitters" their try to fix it which usually results in a botched attempt and it having to go back to main dealers to sort out the mess
