Either way, no loss to the world Im sure.

    Schadenfreude

"Mr Dorr, a champion kickboxer, was trying to stop the row and keep the peace when Ward repeatedly punched and kicked him in the head.

Ward did not know Mr Dorr, but he ripped the teenager’s shirt off him and continued to attack him even when he was unresponsive.

He left zigzag shoe marks on the teenager’s forehead and the side of his head after he punched, stamped and kicked him."

There's no shame in being happy a scumbag like this lad is dead.

Good suggestion.....yet again, the ever present availability of Bail, played no small part in Mr Wards ability to destroy other peoples lives.

That is one way of looking at it but I don't agree.
Tell me about his life, how did he become so violent to do the above?
Was he born that way? Is it Genetic? Did someone else turn him that way.

He could have suffered a life far worse than the out-lash he was
convicted for but this is never know, people don't care.

Much as I agree the world is a better place without the thug, he's somebody's kid. Not sure hot I feel about celebrating.

Not forgetting that this unprovoked attacked happened in daylight in a public street, reports were from around the time that people came out of their homes and tried to intervene and they were told by ward " Mind your own business or you'll be next " , I do know a lot of people didn't testify out of fear of comeback and it was very difficult for the DPP to get a prosecution and the rest of the gang were never charged. What absolute vile filth, I hope he suffered a horrendous end, maybe there is some justice in this world after all

He kicked a kid to death, fcuk him and his background. I've no sympathy. I'm only sorry he didn't die before crossing paths with that boy.

The death of the younger man is the tragedy in all of this, I agree 100%.

But if his background was better know, it might prevent future killers.

Why not? Do we know that they did anything wrong? Maybe they did! But he could just be a total psychopath who caused his family no end of grief and shame. Perfectly nice people come from difficult backgrounds, just like he could have had a perfectly good background and turned out as he did. I wouldn't wish a relative like him on any family!

I think it's great, and while doubtful I hope it brings some comfort to the victims family that this skanger died an undignified death in a sh1thole drinking toxic piss .

I remember reading about the murder at the time, such a needless act of violence it's actually mind boggling.

He didn't. And you cant speak for him regardless of your life experience.

He made a choice to kill someone. It wasn't an accident, it wasn't caused by his lack of care or attention...he deliberately attacked a teenager and kicked him to death. I don't care if you grew up with parents like Fred and Rosemary West, you have don't use another person as a punch bag. Imagine if that kid was your son or brother? The only sympathy I have is for the family of Niall Dorr.

I'd usually agree with examining why a person would behave as he did, in order to prevent it happening again. And I stick by that.
But they're still ultimately responsible for their actions too. This man was a monster - what he did to that young lad and his family... it's too upsetting to think about.
And is there even evidence that he did have a terrible upbringing? It's not always a given in these situations.

Just because he was convicted of manslaughter, doesn't mean he didn't choose to kill someone.

I believe in the whole nurture versus nature thing when it comes to people being scumbags. I also believe that once a scumbag always a scumbag so with anyone who is brought up as a scumbag then it is too late to try and reform them after they grow up so at this point they should be removed from society.

The only way to stop it is to cut it at the source i.e. get them when they're young so they can be influenced as they grow up to not be a scumbag. Scumbags breed scumbags so don't let scumbags breed is one drastic solution.

A Jury of 12 people, just as intelligent as you and me, under the guidance
of a judge, examined all the evidence and return a verdict.

    They chose manslaughter.

You can argue the law was wrong or it was a miscarriage of justice.
Until then, the verdict stands, that's the law.

Even if he didn't intend to kill the lad, he kicked him repeatedly in the head. There was plenty of responsibility and intent there.

you don't "get off" with manslaughter. if there isn't enough evidence for murder what else can one be charged with. manslaughter is the next best thing

According to the article there was no jury. He took a guilty plea to manslaughter. There was difficulty in finding witnesses willing to testify.

Did I read he died of a drug overdose and was found with a cup of hooch in his hand.. Seriously too much in the way of freedoms in Irish prisions, how poorly run is a prison when the prisoners are able to brew/distill alcohol.

I read an article online earlier where apparently Ireland's most dangerous criminal had a playstation and a fish tank bought for him. Yet it takes three officers in riot gear to move him he's so aggressive..

Only because witnesses were too frightened of retribution to come forward, which is the sole reason he was convicted of manslaughter. What he did was cold blooded murder.

An unpleasant person...no horrible. His death will not bring back Niall. It was of natural causes as all deaths should be. Niall's death should have been of natural causes too.

He spent his last days in prison. That is just. It's the type of story that makes you feel sad whatever way you look at it.

No, you should feel sorry for the young man parents.
They are the ones who deserve sympathy and comfort.

That's not the same as taking pleasure in his death.
