We're discussing fatness in my public health course. My professor defends BMI, portrays weight as an effect of poor personal choices, and makes jokes about fatness. They also mentioned the "fat people are an economic burden" argument. I know most of the class is planning on going into the medical field and I don't want this class to reinforce/validate their prejudices. I'm considering emailing my professor, would that be worth it? Does anyone have any fat positive sources they'd recommend that address health and the economy?

Edited to add: One of our required textbooks for the class is "The World is Fat" by Barry Popkin. It's terrible.

I’m a fat ND. I was one of a handful of fat students at my med school, and I mean bigger than a size 12/14 fat. As I went through school I saw a few more admitted, but not many. I don’t know if there was prejudice in admissions or if not a lot of fat people were applying, particularly to naturopathic med school, since NDs tend to be super skinny on the whole.

Have a look at the BigFatScience tumblr. The person who runs it tags posts really consistently and there may be a nutrition tag. They post links to studies all of the time.

Summons to court for no dog license for not paying the 100 Euro fine am in this Country in Ireland the Dog Rule is the Dog Has up to 4 Months to get a License my Dog was 3 Months at the Time I have the License 3 weeks so I'm not paying a fine when I am in the right Google said that in Ireland you can't get a license until the dog has 2 Injections and a Microchip and at last 2-3 worm doses done also in Ireland it is the rule of all kennels in every country that they do not take any dogs into kennels until they are 4 months old my dog at the time I left her alone was 3 months And it is no ones Buisness where I am am and what I am doing with or without the dog with me I can't bring her on the bus that is the rule of Bus Eireann Transport my friend has all boy dogs and they will go mad and their mam not very well and also I don't want my dog getting attacked if put into a kennel from now on when going away I expect the staff to treat my beauty dog like royalty she is not to be around the other dogs in their cause god knows they will attack her I am going to make her into a show dog I say
