    Glasgow?

St. Enoch was a big noise in the Midlands so I'll guess Birmingham.

    Glasgow?

Glasgow indeed. The third oldest subway in the world.

    Your question.

Where in Galway is lynching window located and how did it get it's name?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 30,453 ✭✭✭✭looksee

I have a slightly (very) woolly memory of a building where someone was pushed out of a window to hang them in some kind of turbulent time - I think an official building like a courthouse, but I'm very vague about it.

edit - right story, not nearly enough detail though :D

Right story but not where the window is located now. That building is now a bank.

It's on Market street I think? Named after the Judge (?) Lynch who hung his own son?

Was he not the Mayor of Galway?

    Shop Street

Could be - I'm honestly not sure. I just remember the story due to the play on words of lynch/hang.

Yep it is on market street. Mayor lynch hung his own son for killing a Spanish sailor

    Babylonian Laws.

    Babylonian Laws.

Correct. Bonus point for the number of laws in the code?

    Your question.

Three consecutive elements on the Periodic Table are named after three consecutive planets. Planets and Elements please.

The only 3 consecutive planets would be Saturn, Uranus & Neptune (Saturnium, Uranium & Neptunium), seeing as Pluto got demoted or am I being pedantic.

92-94 are Uranium, Neptunium and Plutonium
    Planets Uranus, Neptune and Pluto?

    Pluto is still being debated.

Correct. I thought you'd get that one.

    I agree with /ted
    he is being pedantic :D

And if Pluto is still a planet it means there are 4 consecutive

I meant consecutive elementy-named ones, didn't explain well.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 894 ✭✭✭Corkgirl18

Correct. I thought you'd get that one.

    I should be fired if I didn't!

    What does derhotacization mean?

    Saturn = saturnium
    Uranus - uranium
    Neptune - neptunium
    Pluto - plutonium

4 planets in sequence and 4 elements

No such thing as Saturnium. The other 3 are in sequence in the Periodic Table.

Protactinium comes before Uranium. And there is no chemical element Saturnium.

If Plutonium is to be included then there is a case to be made for Cerium and
Palladium. Let us not forget Tellurium.
