Bit before the player's time I assume but I'd love to go back and listen to that show and the following week or so's episodes.

That would make good listening alright, I think he had a caller on who watched as the second tower got hit live on air, Its all a bit hazy now.......

Completely irresponsible, sensationalist and potentially dangerous broadcasting from the telephonist again. How does he get away with this?

And Joe is sooo wishing he knew who the victims were, even to get a distant relative on that had a 3rd cousin out there for the summer or something would do him !

FFS! Should they be talking structural loading etc., in the midst of this Tragedy!

Is he trying to blame someone for overloading the balcony or blame builders.?

Both, he also seems to have completely missed that the balcony struts may also have collapsed. Because you can't see them in a post collapse photo doesn't mean they were never there.

Not if they were Irish builders. Then it's the fault of the "cimint"

No, Joe - nobody verified anything.

They're all just on your phone line speculating, just like you.

There aren't enough :mad::mad::mad::mad:s to express my outrage at this programme today.

Joe trying to find someway to blame the Californian building regulators...from a country that certified Priory Hall.

Before the end of the programme I'm guessing he will speculate if a plane flew into the balcony. Seriously, It's just too soon for this endless speculation until the facts are established.

That is an absolutely brutal ad for Bord Gais Energy.

And as usual the HSE paying RTE a fortune in advertising fees to advertise something that everyone knows about. Bet they didn't ask for a discount either.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,001 ✭✭✭✭Flukey

Joe angling as to whether it may have been their own fault......

He'll be trying to get passersbyto ring in and let him know what song was playing at the time the balcony collapsed and if they were doing the conga or some other such dance on the balcony.

RTE follow the report on the balcony collapse with ad featuring the song "Falling Slowly"

The media will be as usual straight on to Facebook to ripoff all photos they can of the victims once the names are released.

I remember it very clearly, I was listening to it where I worked at the time. I remember he was discussing racism, I think the Nigerian owned a shop ( I can't do the accent!) Joe switched to talk to either Conor O'Clery or Neil O'Dowd in New York who was looking over at the Twin Towers after the first plane struck. Then he saw the second plane strike and I'd think Joe nearly went into orbit.

Yes, the Nigerian had a shop in Shandon Street in Cork, and he got quite upset that Joe wanted to cut him off to cover the 9/11 story.
It really is one of those "where were you when you heard ......." stories. Its just such a pity that Duffy is included in my initial memory of 9/11.

I wonder would he be as freakishly voyeuristic about this if the 3 twins were in California?

I'm actually expecting to hear Joe on American radio.
