Is this the going rate for in calf cows or am I reading it wrong? Or are they just poor cows?

No age or calf details on first two cows. The next three LM cows are late March, late April and late May and may well run into to following month. However it is hard to judge without seeing cows. The other fear with them is that lads may be culling them because of issues with them

Surely they would be worth a punt at that money.
I know its a lucky bag with buying an unknown animal but with a calf hitting the ground in a couple of months it could be worth it for that kind of money. Suck calves are goin silly money surely that cow would leave a lot more money behind. Even if you just bought her reared the calf then factory her if you don't like the look of her. Or am I just having crazy thoughts

theres plenty of lads at that already, ive watched it for a while and they usually go tight to their cull value and thats allowing for a calf that may or may not live. these sort of cows are not sold for producing too good of calves either. A good springer usually goes silly money, id be guessing they were just poor stock.

I bought a few before Christmas. They were generally around 1200 to 1500 for nice enough in calf heifers or young cows. I thought they were good value at that. I saw a lot sold that would have made as much in not in calf.

Just in case any might be interested. The father is getting out of suckler cows. Sending in 22 Spring calving cows/heifers to Kilkenny mart tomorrow. 12 are synchronised in calf the same day to CH AI bull Tombapik. The rest in calf to CH stock bull. Due between end Feb-1st week of May.

Might be of interest to anyone looking to increase numbers of Spring calvers.

A sad day to be selling them but at least there was a choice in the decision.

    Best of luck with them

Pity you're so far away from my part of the country. They sound like topping stock. Let us know how they fared.

Sound great. What sort of money is he expecting for them?

These dispersal sales are becoming more and more frequent. I think that the whole discussion on the other thread about the IFA/ICSA proposals to reduce the suckler herd may be irrelevant!

What are Limx u/r grade quality heifers making? Or price per kilo?
I know they are 5*, 15 months and roughly 430kg.

Thanks. They were a mixed group in terms of ages but averaged 1200. Thought they might do better so close to calving but its not bad either so no complaints.
