    Hi lads,
Cheers for the gold mine of info so far in this thread and indeed the forum in general.

Vectra/Curran. I was reading the instructions on applying CQUK and it states that if any water gets on the car in the 24 hour period while the product is curing/hardening that you have to wipe it off.
Seeing as dew begins to form at around six pm these days is it just the wrong time of year to be applying it? Indoors isn't an option.
Do I wait until Spring or is there another solution?
Cheers and well wear on the car Vectra!

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,377 ✭✭✭Curran

They are the ideal conditions; not sure how much the dew would affect the car, say if you applied it early in the morning, and had about 8 hours of decent curing conditions. I can ask! ;)

A car cover might improve things; but if it were me, Id wait until the conditions are prefect, and consider another option in the mean time to get you through the winter!

As Curran said. Get it done early.
Apparently after one hour you are on ad long as it doesn't rain.

    Thanks lads. Appreciate the replies.
I'll go for another option and wax it.
One more coat and I'm done as I've already clayed and put one coat on a week or so ago.

If I was too go to the bother of stripping everything off and then applying it and it didn't take because of the weather it would be an awful waste of time and money. I'd end up trying to get the coating off and then waxing it again.

    Thanks once more!

    Well,
    Almost 2 months on.
Car was pretty filthy today by my standards.
Gave it a foaming with Bilt Hamber foam.
Left it dwell for 4 minutes.
    Rinsed with pressure washer,
Unfortunately this time I had to give it a good washing as well as it was literally destroyed in soot as well as road dirt.
But, to be fair, the only thing left to was were the soot stains. ( Some of them as the lighter ones came off with the rinse.)
The wheel, again I snow foamed while doing the rest of the car, These got same dwell time and rinsed again. Nothing more was needed.

  • Registered Users Posts: 15,515 ✭✭✭✭vectra

    Well
    Two months on,
Hasn't been washed in almost a week and was filthy with dust. Then rain,,then wind and dust again,
Got his nice beading shot yesterday.

The only thing this has got since application is regular snow foaming and washing.
It got one coat of Reload since application almost 3 weeks ago.

Not bad if I do say so myself.:D

    Hi,
The Dlux is on the wheels and the CQUK is on the paint.

White is one of the eaisest color to keep believe it or not.
    That and silver.
With the CQUK applied to the paint it is a breeze to keep,
Pressure wash at the local wash bay would probably do most,
But I have a certain neighbour with a very sooty chimney.
    You get the jist.
But yes, The wash is simple. Come up spotless.

Well worth using this combo, BUT, You would need inddoors to apply in in this weather.

I have an unopened dlux I'm going to coat the wheels with, I'll be able to take each wheel indoors to apply the coating.

It's doubtful I would have room indoors for CQ application, I think for now I'll just use some HD wax on it.

    Follow the instructions carefully.
Wipe on- Wipe off. Don't delay in wiping off.

    Giving advice.:)

Have you used some Carpro products?

As your car is old now will you be using cheaper products?

    Yes of course.

    Basically only will be using
    Snow foam
    Shampoo
and water as the cquk is still working as it should.

Picked up the wife's new Focus ST yesterday. Will be next Saturday before I get a chance to get protection on it. I intend to use CQUK on it when the weather allows so in the meantime I'm going to give it two coats of Collinite 845. However, I think I'll apply DLUX to the alloys and trim next weekend as I'll be able to remove the wheels and take them indoors. So, am I right in saying I'll need to de-iron and wash them, use IPA on them, allow to dry, then apply DLUX? Simple as that? Also, is bilt hamber snow foam the best to use after?

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,377 ✭✭✭Curran

Yeah, you have it right....CarPro Eraser can be used in place of IPA.
Bilt Hamber Auto Foam is an ideal snow foam to use on cars with ceramic coating! ;)

Perfect, thanks Curran. Will have to stick in an order for DLUX and bilt hamber so.

When I'm stripping back the wax will the DLUX on any trim be affected? Or should I leave it off the trim until such time as I'm ready to apply CQUK to the paintwork?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,570 ✭✭✭MyStubbleItches

Right, DLUX and bilt hamber foam ordered, ended up getting an incredimitt too as I'm an impulsive idiot! Hopefully I'll have them by Friday!

    As Curran advised above.

Have a look at the dlux video for application.
Do not get nervous of it. Just do it as it advises and it will be grand.

Thanks, would you wait to apply it to the trim until such time as I'm doing the CQUK?

I would say it would be grand.
I applied it to my ytim when I did the cquk on the paint. it is holding up a dream.

Used IronX on the wheels the other day as I felt they probably could do with a bit of a clean. I was surprised at how little difference it made. Dlux on the wheels is stil beading away nicely so did not affect it.

    Well
5 months on and Gave her a wash yesterday
Usualy snowfoam but this time I used Carpro Reset shampoo.
Really nice suds from it. Nicre slick feel from the wash mitt with it and above all, Great cleaning and simple to rinse off.
Left the car nice and clean. Weather was bad and I was in a rush so gave a very light mist of reload on most panels and dried with the dry me crazy towel.

Met a few friends later in the morning and they were quiet amazed with the slick feel on the paint after this time.

Really glad I chose hese carpro products.

    Hi
    Thanks for the compliment.
She is the 150 high line manual.
    I added business edition
    Sports pack
    Heated front screen.

Be careful with the 190 because as far as I am aware it uses adblu.
    The 150 doesn't.

I actually saw an estate passing through my home town a few weeks back.
It was in Tungsten silver with q roof box on it.
I could swear the roof box was for coded.
    I was in awe.
    Stunning looking car.

But st of luck with it.
