Does anyone know that when GameStop said pre orders after the 18th of January are not guaranteed for release day - was that just the grey console or did that include the red and blue one?

I've decided to get the switch day one and prefer the red and blue one. I already have a pre order in a GameStop store that I'll cancel but only if there is still stock of red/blue available. Want to order online for delivery seeing as though when I ordered my Xbox one online with them it arrived the day before launch day ;)

It said that in the title of the grey controller version, and nothing in the title of the red/blue one. Haven't been back on to see if that's still the case. Could be worth contacting their support (if live chat is available when you're on) to determine if your pre-order will be guaranteed for launch day.

I was thinking with the joy-cons having motion controls, would we see a Remaster of Galaxy 1 & 2 at some point in the Switch Lifetime with a potential release of Galaxy 3? I mean in like 4 or 5 years time. I'd love that. Also would love a remake of Mario64, and also a proper remake of Sunshine, like really remake it. Fix everything in it.

I wouldn't see a problem with HD remasters and remakes. Some of them on the other systems are great!

But I would also like to see the originals released on the Switch VC.

And, could be see another Zelda on the Switch after BotW? Like they have all the assets ready to go, they could make a sequel in a a year of two. Same with Mario Odyssey, like they did with Galaxy 2.

So much potential, I'm getting more and more excited the closer we get to launch.

And great news about Skyrim, I'll buy.

I received some hand soap from Amazon in the post this morning. I was a bit confused by this. Then I remembered that this was the cheapo additional product I'd added to my shopping cart, so that the total value was over £50 and giving me £10 off "Arms" price.

I like the themed shopping approach I can take at almost 1 am. If it had been Zelda, presumably I would have bought mouthwash.

Now it says on the website that orders for the red/blue console placed after 18/01/2017 are not guaranteed?

I'll have to email them again before ordering later.

Yeah emailed them and there was a mix up on the site. Both the grey and red/blue console are not guaranteed for launch day for anyone who pre ordered after the 18th.

I still have my pre order in store from before the 18th so I'm happy I didn't cancel that at any stage.

5 Reasons Why I'm Excited About The Nintendo Switch

    The Nintendo Switch looks awesome.

I know I’ve raised my concerns with the video game console in the past, but on the whole I’m more upbeat than I am worried. I have no way of knowing whether the Switch will be a commercial success, but I have a feeling it’s going to be a blast and that it’s going to be very good for the video game industry.

Here’s why I’m excited about the Nintendo Switch. You can watch the video version or skip below and read the list.

    1. I can play all my favorite Nintendo games at home or on the go.

It’s the perfect console for my line of work, for one thing. If I’m reviewing the new Zelda, I can play it at home, at the office, or on a trip. That’s incredibly convenient for what I do, but it’s sure to appeal to lots of other people, too. Whether it’s enough of a draw to make the Switch a huge hit remains to be seen, but I’m looking forward to it.

    2. Game cartridges!

Cartridges make way more sense for a portable console than disc-based media. They’re fast, durable, and you don’t have to install the games onto the system itself—which is a good thing since it’s only got 32 gigs of storage space. Besides, these aren’t like old-school NES cartridges. You won’t have to blow on them to make them work.

    3. The Joy-Con controllers.

Everything I’ve seen and read about the new Joy-Con controllers makes me excited to actually play with them. As my colleague Ollie Barder argues—he’s tried the Switch out already—they might be the Switch’s true secret weapon.

    4. It’s something different from the PS4 and Xbox One.

As much as I like to get on Nintendo’s case for putting out console after console that relies on a central gimmick, I’m still glad the Switch isn’t just another PS4 or Xbox One. It’s unique and, if all goes well, that means we’ll get lots of fun, quirky games that aren’t just rehashes of the games we play on Sony or Microsoft systems.

    5. The games!

Speaking of games, this is the number one reason I’m excited for the Switch. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is enough to set my hype to 11, but there’s also Splatoon 2, Super Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Mario Odyssey and who knows what else in the pipeline. I’m hoping for a new Metroid.

Keep in mind if you have any issue with the Switch you will have to send it back to France.

    they deliver to ireland.

with delivery, its the same price.

why the difference though? thats a ~ €20-25 difference for it.

Ireland Tax, also known as the Gamestop tax. 3DS's are 40 quid cheaper from french or german amazon than UK Amazon or Gamestop.

It could be that they're not selling through the pre orders. All other European Amazon sites are sold old except France and Spain. I posted links to them yesterday. Maybe they're under pressure to sell them out so the company as a whole can accept new pre orders. It's just a guess. Amazon Spain is about €319 from memory. You won't get a 3 pin plug from either country so that is an added expense plus if something goes wrong it will be a right pain returning and waiting. I'd stick with Lamestop and Shyths.

I would imagine the price difference between different European countries is because Nintendo did say at the reveal price is up to your local retailer. GameStop could've charged more had they seen fit.

The one thing I would say is that the power supply is a USB-C one and, depending on the demands of the system, should be available in most good gadget shops.
Nintendo seem to have their own service centre and will repair consoles within the 12 months of purchase, at least with existing consoles.
    Nintendo Service Centre
Proof of purchase is required but it doesn't state that this has to be a UK/Ireland receipt.
Once the warranty is applicable the shipping is free, the repair/replacement is free and it's got a fast turnaround.

Do ye reckon id get away with not preordering it. Surely Argos/Gamestop will have some a week after release.

Gamestop is no longer taking pre orders, so no. If people cancel or don't collect their pre orders, they won't be up for general sale, they go to the next person in line.

Argos will sell out very quickly when they do get them, so you'd have to have your eye on the website like a hawk to reserve one. A lot of us here thought we could do without NES classic pre orders cos Argos would get them in stock, turned out they never did get them in properly.

Rumours going round LA Noire will be getting a Switch port/remaster (and also PS4 and XB1) If true, what an odd choice.

Unless 'remastering' in this case means making it good, I'm not interested. It was a snoozefest on the 360.

Who's taking the Switch to France?

They aren't allowed to set prices in Europe, so they were taken to court for price fixing in Europe way back, so they don't give a RRP

When my gamepad broke they didn't ask for any receipts.

Could be (I'm hoping) its sort of a test for other stuff. Portable GTA 5 would be a system seller!

    Portable GTAV...
Just give me a steady stream of shmup ports and I'd be happy out with my Switch.
    Gradius V
    The Raiden series
    The RType franchise
    All the Metal Slugs
Cave shooters like Ibara and Muchi Muchi Pork
    Viper phase 1
I could have them in Tate mode and use the Joycon or the official arcade stick!!

Damn... Made a mess of myself....
