Cathy Davey and Lisa Hannigan may have a thing or two to say about that....

Anyway I like Imelda. She seems like a lovely, down-to-earth lady and she's got a fantastic voice. My only qualm is that she's a bit of a one trick pony; I'd love to see her stretch herself a little more musically rather than do the whole rockabilly thing (which she undoubtedly does very well) all the time.

Then again, if it ain't broke I suppose...

I would put Lisa Hannigan in the 'one trick pony' category as well.

Alright she can sing. The band is good and I am sure she is a nice lady.

But I can't stand her. The music is so annoyingly self-conscious RTE-level 'cool'.

Sorry, I know this is considered blasphemy in suburbia, but if I never heard her ever again I wouldn't give a toss.

    In fact, I'd love it.

    Thanks for sharing!

Woolly jumper and a sensitive song about a kitten. Or something.

    What does that even mean?

    Don't really understand the hate.

She's unpretentious, writes her own songs and refrains from making a fool of herself.

Best of luck to her I say.

Probably listens to really provocative stuff instead like Rage Against The Machine or The Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Rage against the machine have been going for decades now. Result? Machine still there. Useless tossers.

It means trying too hard to be cool and therefore failing.

The strange use of "suburbia" in Ops post is strange. Most people in dublin live in Suburbia, some occasionally rent in the inner city for a while but that's often just transient ( and I fail to see why it's hipster to live in the IFSC).

Imelda actually belongs to a community which lives in the inner city for generations.

So, there's a question mark hanging over her
    ?
    :D

Can we get back to this mental picture of being stuck in a lift with Imelda & Katie at the same time?

    Jaysis, it'd be some workout...

She's a lovely down to earth Dublin lass.

I remember when she was only a kid, hanging out at Advance records opposite the Gaiety with the Punks when the Dandelion Market was there...damn I feel old :D

I'd like to see her form a supergroup with the camembert quartet.

Two women who seem to me to be pleasant enough, and are successful in what they do. I can easily imagine worse company.

There is something very mean-spirited about creating a thread to tell the world that you don't like somebody.

She tries too hard. And needs a haircut.

She's more than a rockabilly one trick pony. Plenty of good stuff on Youtube and you probably haven't seen her live.

Yeah sure she's nice and everything. It's just the rockabilly thing going on, and the ensuing fashion. I'm not a fan, and where does that rockabilly stuff come from? I remember one family growing up and they were all rockabilly and stuck out like sore thumbs. I could go on but won't bore yous all with my just realised hatred of all things rockabilly.

I'd give her one. She can even sing if she wants.

    But the band can't watch.

I agree to an extent. While she does seem to be over-exposed especially by RTE; at least she has some talent and spent years trying to earn a crust at it. I'm not a fan of her music though.
I think save your opprobrium for those that really deserve it. The no talent boy band and girl band types. Nicky Byrne for example.

That was fun! Very much from the same stable as Jerry Lee Lewis.

I liked her introduction to the song.

    Chilli peppers are "provocative"?

One of her tunes is the intro music to Tubridy's radio show.
That's all you need to know.
