Why so? CGs happen all the time in Ireland.

ECM 216h chart tonight showing a potentially serious thundery low moving up from the south. May as well cache the chart just for eye candy as it will most likely be scrapped again in the next run.

There seem to have been a couple of recent strikes around the Cavan area, having looked at Lightning Maps. There has just been a heavy hail shower here in Clondalkin, which has set off a couple of house alarms, but no thunder or lightning.

    Just wondering has ESTOFEX disappeared?

Trying to access for the last couple of days but just getting 'website not available'.

Their server provider is down , happened before a year or two back and they were back in a week or so.

Got mention of a thunderstorm in NW Donegal between midnight and 1am today. Anyone confirm if this was so?

Just got a warning from the met office on my phone for the possibility of intense thundery downpours and frequent lightning on Friday in SE England. As usual the actual event will probably be watered down to a few scattered storms but keeping my hopes up for now, haven't heard a single rumble of thunder since last August

Its actually been fairly consistent the last day or so ... its all from the plum of hot air that was teasing the whole UK & Ireland on last week's models.

After some fairly heavy imported morning stuff early friday morning( probably the odd spark in that if its warm enough )

The heat and instability will quickly build and could lead to potential severe storms . Lightning and large hail and flooding being the main issues.

If Estofex were active it would be a solid level 1 IMO for the SE of England.

EDIT : Actually if the convection can get going early on there is enough low level shear for potential supercells and even the odd Tornado.

Seems to be alot of thunderstorm activity in the south east of England at the moment
