Do we know if that's on top of the rumored lease in 330 and the 330 in H6 at dublin?

The lease and one in storage are the 2.

Its confirmation of the rumored lease plus GCF, which although delivered, wont be in service until 2018

    Yep. The article states 13 A330's and 4 B757's in Summer 2018.

And the presentation posted a few weeks ago showed 4 A321 arriving in 2019, with only 3 B757s planned that summer. So up to 20 daily flights in S19.

this is fking ridiculous expanding TA like this when T2 and the CBP area are woefully undersized for it . It would actually be better to fly over and do clearance at the other end given the circus downstairs in T2 at certain times.

Do you think EI should stop expanding?

Well that’s a problem for the DAA, you can’t expect an airline to just say “oh we won’t bother expanding if it’s slightly inconvienient for airport operations”

Aer Lingus should stretch out the TA CBP operation across the day, launching more towards the evening when it is quieter but there again the slots dictate when they can schedule flights. But having said that they could probably reassign what flight takes what slot.

I do agree that it’s less than ideal. But the airline can’t modify their xpansion based on CBP restrictions. I believe that any changes to CBP require diplomatic channels and thus are slower to change. I think the terminal itself can handle the extra numbers. I’ve yet to feel it being as jam packed as the old T1 before T2 was built.

As above I think EI have the ability to spread out their departures to keep CBP busy throughout the day rather than cramming everything into 2 waves.

They have PHL is now 13.40, SEA 15.50.

    08.50 - AA
    09.20 - UA
    09.50 - AA
    09.55 - AA
    10.25 - DL
    10.50
    11.00 - DL
    11.15
    11.20 - AA
    11.25 - DL
    11.30
    12.25 - UA
    12.30
    12.30
    12.55 - UA
    13.00
    13.40
    13.50
    14.30 - DY
    15.00
    15.00
    15.00 - DY (times vary)
    15.50
    15.50
    16.10
    16.20

PHL, SEA, BDY, MIA, LAX, EWR have all used lather times since they started. With the S Gates, I guess EI could move most of the 11.00-12.30 departures over there and upstairs in E could be more widely used as things get busier.

The five additional gates (and nine stands) at the satellite terminal should help with reducing the congestion as well.

I was asked above if I considered EI should stop expanding - well thats a bit of a silly question. EI ( and all the other airllines ) are free to not do CBP in Dublin - they can do it at the other end , and in a lot of cases it will be faster. This should be taken into account just as much as expansion . Currently you must arrive 4 hours in advance to be ensured of an unworried transit through CBP if you are going in the middle of a wave , and to be honest its a horrible way to start a trip down in that circus.

The bonus of doing CBP at the other end frees you from Terminal 2 as well as a bottleneck. Once the morning push is done you can't tell me there isn't space at the other terminals.

I seem to remember American having this outbreak of good sense at one time, and leaving from the 100 gates a good while ago

CBP is not max 1 hour. 92 mins last time from descending the escalator . I timed it. Others were worse.

That’s true but I was responding to a series of posts referring to the terminal capacity or lack of it.

DUB-IAD has been switched back to A330 daily...

DUB-PHL increased from 4 to daily on B752.

DUB-YYZ drops from 7 to 6 weekly and gives 4 spare A330 slots for cover.
Would make sense capacity wise as UA appear to have dropped their IAD-DUB service.
They're (UA) also going using a domestic configured 777 on EWR-DUB route afaik.

UA IAD is staying, (second EWR gone).
    ——-

Correction to above, PHL daily by May, other changes from March.
    Really?
Nothing showing in their booking engine for 2018 as far as I can see.

I've just moved over 20 posts from this thread into the Dublin Infrastructure thread, as while they are relevant and interesting, they are not as such Aer Lingus Fleet discussion posts, they are more related to Dublin airport infrastructure,

So, please, can we try and keep this thread for Aer Lingus Fleet discussions.

    Thanks

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

Lads I know this post is totally unrelated to the EI fleet, But rather than starting a new post I thought maybe someone would know the answer to my question.
I saw on FB. that EI are recruiting for a number of positions ops duty manager and a scheduler etc.
They haven't mentioned the salary or other perks anyone know what sort of salary and other benefits they include.
Once again sorry for hi jacking the thread.

According to airliners.net it looks like A7-ACH s off to EI in May. Incidentally this is their oldest 332 at 16 years old.

I was told that QR are either long term leasing out their A330's or converting them to freighters within the next 2 years. Fleet renewal with further A350/787.

Makes sense, Qatar have more planes on order than they know what to do with, Meridiana will be getting some of them too.

have they not got two 330s in reasonably warm store at the mo - could they cover for EI-LAX ?

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 4,276 Mod ✭✭✭✭Locker10a

To me it would make most sense to split the passengers, send some via DUB tomorrow and some with a connection, in JFK, BOS or LHR or where ever there’s most availability

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,172 ✭✭✭trellheim

lot of people heading back to work in the USA tho, may not be spaces, I suppose it'll come down to if they can get LAX fixed or not

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,845 ✭✭✭✭Jamie2k9

IMO they will hire one in before using the latest A330 before the new year, most should be back home within 24 hours anyway on existing services.

Titan 767 G-POWD currently in the air heading for Dublin. Presumably a replacement for LAX

why ? I thought it had been kept ready-to-go, is it a case of it not going on lease till then ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 958 ✭✭✭Bussywussy

No it's in storage....loads of checks needed to get it ready to fly...knew something like this would happen.
