The 757s really do need to be counted in the numbers; and the extra 330 that'll be operating from the start of S18

16->24 is not as huge a jump as 11->24.

Well they were in my calculation, 16 aircraft at the end of this year, to 24 by 2022 as per IAGs market day presentation which contained the EI fleet plan. As the last A321LRs come in the 757s will be retired, leaving 24 aircraft (eight A330-300, four A330-200, and 12 A321LR). Net gain is only the capacity of eight A321LRs, hence a 30% boost in capacity as they will be similar to the 757s.

Yes, they were; I forgot how to count. :o

Went the wrong direction, 24->12 being a 50% drop rather than 16-24 being a 50% increase (12-24 is of course 100%)

I suspect EI could profitably use another two 757-size and another two 330-size frames in S18 already. There should be further growth beyond that but the regional and mainline shorthaul network needs to grow to feed particularly if there's going to be more niche US East coast destinations.

I’d also say that another boarding pier may be needed at DUB, unless departures are spaced out over the day.

I develop Superior Solitaire when I'm not procrastinating on boards.ie.

Certainly US Pre-Clearance needs more gates too.

I would wholeheartedly agree that CBP needs an large increase in capacity.
But I think the use of A321LRs will allow more stand usage on Pier E/Terminal 2.

(It’s my understanding that each pair of neighboring stands can accept 2 wide bodies or 3 narrow bodies)

    .........
I would love to know where these odd predictions are coming from.
I listened to the IAG presentation on Fri 3rd No, no hint or mention from Stephen Kavanagh about the possibility of a new route or aircraft. Their fleet plan shows only 12 A330's for the next few years. (Seasonal leases however were mentioned as a possibilty)

Perhaps IAG are taking 4 A330s next year and the poster took it as all for EI? Agreed though, I don't know how anyone could see EI getting 4 A330s in one year!

Ever landed in LAX after an Air India, Virgin, BA and Lufty. Now that is what I call a scrum. Dublin aint anywhere near that even at its worst times.

Why do you guess that? they've clearly set out the plan for the fleet until 2022 and it doesn't include any more A330. (Apart from the imminent arrival obviously).

The speculation re 330’s prediction quotas are getting beyond bizzare

It didn't include any A321 12 months ago. The slide is meaningless, you can rarely forecast beyond 2 years.

A large amount of the stories are coming from very reliable sources within Aer Lingus itself. I wouldn’t hold any store in any of the stories until you see green paint on metal at Dublin.

I don't think BA don't operate A330's currently, so it would be a fair guess to say all of the order will be split between EI, Iberia and Level! Guessing most of them for Level and Iberia though

When are Aer Lingus going to take delivery of the A350 or will it ever happen?

Until a date is announced, take never as the answer

Never latest presentation by Aer Lingus during the IAG CAP indicated ZERO A350’s for Aer Lingus.

True, however it is a future fleet forecast. Obviously changing industry conditions will affect the plan, the delayed retirement of the Iberia A340s being a case in point.
But while the A321s were not in last years forecast it was never in doubt that th year were coming down the line.

Really? I was under the assumption that only the highest in the company would know of these fleet plans that haven't been released elsewhere, and without any offense, your posting quality doesn't seem to come across that you work in such.

It would be great if it happened but the pessimistic side of me thinks it can't happen, where would they go? Launching so much capacity in one year, on a relatively small TA operation, in a capacity constructed airport, personally I see EI sticking to their healthy and steady growth.

Take the point but I don't think anybody would of expected a fleet of 12 6 months ago.

While you work there I can't see a net gain of 4 A330 unless a) some arrive late 2018 for 2019 and/or b) to offload EWR and maybe even LAX 200's, and/or c) they have gotten them a such a price they couldn't turn down.

I don't want to be too sceptical but 2 weeks ago he said that EI would "100%" launch Seattle in 2018. Then the other day that prediction was downgraded to "Fingers crossed Seattle will happen".
