    Saturday 24th October 9.36 miles @ 11:02

Was looking forward to this run all week, started the day with some park run volunteering, it was freezing this morning but the rain cleared just in time. Thawed out with a coffee & scone first & headed off through the park up Johnstown Road, Rochestown Ave to Killiney Hill, its uphill most of the way but then you are rewarded with these views

    Killiney Hill

I was the only runner up there this morning :) did a loop of the hill up to the Obelisk, back down & up again to the witches castle. Beautiful, then back the way I came taking in 'that' hill in Cabinteely Park. Headed home via the marathon route to suss out my location for Monday, have absolutely zero recollection of running along those roads a year go, nada #stilltraumatised! Have the strawberries & oranges & little bags ready to go :)

But...but...I assumed you were racing tomorrow?? No, won't be there, can't justify a 'get out of house' pass without a race :( 5yo has chicken pops too...hopefully the 2yo will hold off til Tuesday!

Can't see it being muddy to be honest, the golf course was bone dry last week when I was up there and we have had feck all rain the past week to change that. Say it's good to firm in horse racing terms.

Sounds like a lovely run today. Enjoy the xc tomorrow and don't do anything to jeopardise Monday's refreshments schedule! (I am an honorary novice so eligible for strawberries right?)

Sorry what mile did you say you'll be at???

I think really that MILE 22 will be best...all that lovely stuff to get them up 'that hill'

nothing to to do with the fact that that's where i'll be.....

20.5, quite selfishly because I can get from there to McGrattans on foot quite easily*

    *i've checked...:D

Edit to say they'll need time to digest said lovely things so its perfect timing for the bump in the road you're referring to!

It is a perfect way to get the message across to all those running tomorrow.....keep it simple. One foot in front of the other and repeat ;)

Sunday 25th October Leinster Masters XC, Moyvalley 4K

The best thing I can say about today's race is thank f*ck its over :D

holy christ that was Tough, same distance as last time but the ground was far rougher so staying upright was an achievement in itself (at least for someone like me who's not used to running on grass let alone cross country courses) I had a good start and felt I was going reasonably well until a bend in the middle of the first lap saw me knocked nearly to the ground by some enthusiastic competitor, unfortunately I lost my stride & rhythm and I felt my hip pull in my effort to stay on my feet so the race for me pretty much went south from there. I did my best the rest of the way around and I wasn't last so it could have been worse but there were no battles won today. None of us on the masters team (bar one) were very happy with our races but, our clubmates on the novices team won gold! whoohooo!

All today has done has made me determined to do some proper XC training before the Meet & Train comes around so I must look at doing more running in the PP, no reason why I can't run the route they used for the Dublin races a few weeks back.

Am off to make up the fruit bags for tomorrow, the very best of luck to everyone running / pacing / supporting, see you all on the other side :)

OMG, are you ok? Did you go for them?
As my Sister advised me when I sent the group picture 'Are you the oldest? Don't get sucked into that **** '. Anyone I've spoken to raced XC as a child, now I know why. It wouldn't have suited me then either in truth.
Enjoy the wine and maybe retirement?

:D 'go for her' eh no, perhaps I need to learn those skills though, I think I may have apologized to her!!! I think she muttered 'sorry'.

Retirement, no WE (that's you and me) are doing meet and train,OK? if it helps there are cakes & sandwiches afterwards.
