Great going, FD. Nice PB despite having to take a breather. Plenty more to come especially when breathing is sorted.

Good to see B doing something useful with his time rather than just hanging out along the Royal Canal with auld boggers!

Monday 19th October 4.30 miles with HR <140 (I tired for 135 but was led astray)

Met aquinn to show off my fab new PB t-shirt, she was suitably impressed :) in turn she showed me her sailing bruises, I was suitably horrified :D

Body felt ok on this despite the right hip being very sore last night, actually throbbing at one point. Lower right back has taken over as key sore point today. I didn't feel great though, was a bit dizzy at one stage, can't put my finger on it, still feeling a bit wobbly now.

So having said I was taking a break for a while I discovered last night that I've been signed up for the Leinster masters XC next Sunday, sure why not eh? It means I can't do the Raheny 2 miler on Wednesday though as that'd be asking for trouble, hopefully will make it next week..

Oh you know that lump/really sore spot I was on about? Turns out it is another bruise.

I'll draft an email for you to gracefully withdraw from the cross-country if you wish? I don't mind.

Well done firedance. I only done the 5k, the hills totally took me by surprise though, i had somehow convinced myself that it was going to be a completely flat course

    Congrats on PB

Tuesday 20th October 4.3 miles easy HR <135

Soooo tired, Tang I think you've broken me :p. Appetite still hasn't really come back which is normally a sign I'm actually dying, there are very few circumstances where I'm off my food.. still on the upside that's 2 more lbs gone :)

Couldn't see the watch in the dark & the rain so ran this by feel which is no harm as I'm rubbish at that, worked out pretty well for the most part and enjoyed the solitude of the darkness. Also practised running relaxed and belly breathing as I'm rubbish at those too :)

Bath & bed for an early night. No blaming pacers 😆. Was it the PB wine? Any training tonight was an effort with the weather turning.

Wednesday 21st Oct: 30 mins Strength & 30 mins Yoga

Thursday 22nd October 5.09 miles easy

Spent the morning with one glute on a spikey ball to try and ease out the knots, the body is slowly getting back to normal and I'm feeling a bit more human today. This was a bit of a backwards run, I started off with high HR & low average pace and worked my way down to low HR and faster paces. I give up with this HR monitor, it seems to work only every second day, or perhaps only I'm working every second day.. The first few miles felt a little harder than an easy run should but as the run went on I got into my stride and everything felt relaxed & comfortable.

Friday 23rd October: 5 miles easy

Headed to the Royal Canal for this, why should Tang have all the fun :) I've noticed before cars parked in a lay by just before St Catherine's park so parked up there and went in the direction of Maynooth. The trail was mostly grass so a bit of practice ahead of Sundays XC. Really enjoyed this, very pretty for the most part. Saw a sign just before I was going to turn back for home that said 'Leixlip Spa Waterfall' am a sucker for waterfalls so turned off and followed the steps down, down and down into nothing!! ended up in a clearing with lots of rubbish and brush & wasn't venturing any further on my own so back up the steps  Same again on todays run, started with HR too high, worked its way downwards despite me picking up the pace on the way home.

I'm 7 weeks into the HR training and HADD says you see improvements in cardio drift & and increase in your easy pace after 6 weeks. I've had a look at the stats in Garmin connect but see nothing to suggest either has happened. So I guess I'll stick with it for another while and see if there is any progress in the coming weeks. Consistency is key, right?

Yeah, will definitely be making more use of it myself when the long runs kick in during marathon training.
