I dont think anyone should have parenthood forced on them but most prochoice people use prolife arguements when it comes to men. The most common being 'he made his choice when he had sex' but doesnt this apply to women too?

To an extent but its not parenthood - you don't have to raise the child, you can place it for adoption.

Most women who have abortions don't want to be pregnant in the first place.

Why would the pro choice side use that argument against men? Please explain...

People bringing up the girl's road trip plans are really píssing me off.

Let's be clear: she didn't need to give any reason at all because it's none of our business.

She obviously didn't feel that way when she revealed it in a documentary likely to be watched by millions of people.

She was being honest and trying to show there are many reasons women get abortions.

She doesn't owe you or anyone else a reason, though. And yet people think they have to right to evaluate her reasonings to see if they're "good enough".

If it's none of our business, she shouldn't have said it. If she said it, she feels it is our business.

I just want to say 'so what' about her road trip in the US? Even if she had no plans at all but to sit at home for the next 2 years and scratch her arse she is entitled to terminate a pregnancy if she wants to. Funnily enough, having no plans but not wanting to have a baby would probably be seen by some people as a better reason than having plans and not wanting to have a baby.

It can be your business to know why, but not to judge. It's her body. She did nothing illegal.

I think people are getting reasons and examples mixed up, probably because of the narration. To me the reason is clear; she wasn't ready. The road trip is an example/descriptor of how she knows she's not ready ie she has aspirations she wants to fulfil first and buying the apartment relates to providing a stable base to start a family.

Yes, because contraception is always 100% effective and if it fails, it's your fault so you should have to have a baby as punishment for having sex for non-reproductive purposes.

    /sarcasm meter explodes

Awful lot of folk who don't keep out of people's personal space, insist on hitting people over the head with their storybooks and don't mind their own goddamned business as well.

Well if the mother decides to keep the child against the fathers wishes he is still financially liable. Many people believe a mans choice ends at conception.

Do you have a basic understanding of how contraception works?

That's definitely a law that needs to change.

I do, that's why I'm not in the queue for an abortion!!
    Do you?

This is a separate argument than a woman's right to an abortion. And not one that I'd hear a lot of pro-choicers throw out there either.

Yes and if she chose to have the child because the father wanted it, hand it over to him to raise then she would also be financially liable.

It came up in the last abortion thread. Its more common than you realise as it has far reaching implications.

I know what the implications are but it's a different discussion. Having sex with someone doesn't give a man the right to say how he wants a woman to treat her body, whether it be "get an abortion" or "keep the baby". The laws need to change, but I don't think the man should be granted that say just because he had sex with her.

But if a man wants a woman to get an abortion and she refuses, he shouldn't have to support the child financially.

I don't follow your logic, but as you seem to be a hardline religious person, I'm not suprised I don't follow your logic

That's why I said the laws need to change. Much like abortion, there should be a time frame in which a man can waiver his rights to be the parent.
