What is the cause of the Lufthansa delay? Are they communicating and keeping you updated?

    Hope your heading somewhere nice!

Pilot out of hours, he came out himself and told 189 people he wasn't allowed to fly....he looked gutted but it shouldn't happen.

Any of the lads in the know why this happened, I assume it's late arrival of the inbound last night?

Landed at midnight or a few minutes after.

So not that late. Lufthansa must face this risk every night and surely its happened before.

The thing that gets me, is that decision should have been made at 12.00 and not 6.00. We got a text at 6.03 telling us flight delayed for 6 hours, despite the fact the boarding initially started at 5.20 and then was stopped .

Had they told us during the night, we could have stayed in bed , as it stands we've had two hours sleep and still won't get to our destination for another 14 hours.

Anyone know if the same crew do the late night and then the first flight next morning, I wouldn't have thought so as report time must only give them about 4 hours sleep or so.

First Vueling flight to Belfast City on its way up the Irish Sea now:

From what I can tell, also the first time a Vueling aicraft has landed in NI and definitely a first visit for this airframe which was only delivered from Airbus last week!

Update: heading north right over Dublin.

    Fog? Wasn't expecting that!

Viability at 150m. You won't land in that.

If that doesn't work will it be cancelled or the pax bussed to SNN?

Cancelled according to ATC, 165+ booked on the outbound so they don't want to cancel it

Sometimes when FR divert to Shannon they bus the pax to there and operate the flight from SNN instead. Especially if there's a high number of passengers on the outbound flight.

It don't work that way for FR. It will be rebook on next available flight, or money back.

I was going to London one night and the inbound flight was diverted to Dublin. We were bussed to Dublin and got our flight there, it was around Christmas and the flight was completely sold out so they bussed us.

Visibility hasn't improved since 2pm, its at a steady 150m.

As a matter of interest, do the airlines have specific "on call" contracts with a specific bus company or does someone just check around each airport etc to see who is available? Who has responsibility for arranging same?

Improving now to 200-250m, the FR said it requires 300m, holding for another 10mins apx

    Visibility improving, almost 275m now.

Even at 300m a go-around is a very active threat. Hard to see the runway in that.

Is there any mobile app to listen in on ATC?

Vis has to be 300m for them to legally start an approach. They seem like they will wait around to commence an approach soon.

There's the liveatc app alternatively download Scanner Radio and copy and paste the ATC link into Custom Scanners.

The diverted flight from LGW-NOC will fly from SNN-LGW soon without PAX (EI990 is a positioning callsign)

Tried the Liveatc app, only Cork worked and it wasn't worth the money.

    I'll try the scanner radio.

Looking to make an approach soon, BEE9HN just contacted ATC now, they might be lucky if the visibility keeps improving.

I though ILS only brings you a certain amount of the way, you need to see the last few metres by yourself?
