Just saw MAN to ORK pass overhead..in for fun times I say

Landed no prob. They have the advantage of the westerly facing runway

I love planes. I'm not a pilot nor an expert but they fascinate me. With that being said, I never want to be in a Saab 2000 coming into Dublin on a night like tonight ever again. Mother of God.

Ya that was brought in last year if I'm correct after a similar night when a Flight from MAN struggled to get down.. Often grab a coffee in Topaz and watch them land there by the weather station when at work

When was that and what airline, do you mind me asking?

Id 2 go rounds in Gatwick last summer coming back from Egypt as pax, to say I was turning green would be a big understatement especially after the feed of beer id the night before?!

Looks like EI875 cancelled another approach at ORK.

    EI875 holding at ORK.

Wind calmed a little here in Clare meanwhile.

Whatever about the airport, the last bit of fencing that survived here after the last bad wind has now come down. It can stay down. It's lashing and windy and I'm warm and I AM NOT GOING OUT THERE!

Just hope it stays on the ground and doesn't take off elsewhere... keeping with the aviation theme!

Just counted 16 aircraft on FR heading for Dublin. Serious number for this time of night

Summer season and minor delays really reek havoc.

Imagine if DUB closed! They would scatter like birds.

To be fair, there's nothing holding at the moment considering the conditions

She's a busy ATC on DUB approach.

    Yikes!

I have some experience of landing in high winds, but not in such an aircraft.

It's some experience alright, and I am trying to pretend my most recent high wind landing was a doddle. It was not.

Glad you got down safely. You must be relieved.

Did you notice silence in the cabin while it was trying to land? That was something I noticed and it was weird. The minute it hit the runway though, it was like a zoo, the release of adrenalin I suspect. And everyone trying to be real brave beforehand!

Wind up again, now sustained 41kt gusting 56kt! Fortunately for flights isn't far from being straight down the runway
