not a good day for Delhi-London route, two major incidents.

this 747 seems to have been circuling for about an hour now, burning off fuel i assume.

would wonder why they dont carry on and land elsewhere to avoid wasting time and fuel.

Pax ending up in LHR is the best option that's not Delhi.

really doesnt make any sense, passengers should come first.

Not sure I follow what you mean..... I stated it would be a long day for passengers and crew and thus a pain in the ass for all involved that's all!

passenger should come before cost. the only decision not to send the plane back up has to be a cost one, seen as they will wait 3 hours anyway for the plane to leave with the passengers coming down from knock via Bus.

Yes I agree but there are other issues that have to be taken into consideration here, weather conditions and their improvement etc. Crew rest/duty period the crew may well be out of hours to do any more sectors or hours! I would even bet a standby Shannon based crew will operate this flight back with the east Mids crew positioning home especially if this was the 2nd half of a 4 sector day for them!

738-800's are new generations! Did you mean the 737 Max? If so, I don't think they're due until around 2018.

EI-FIZ, FOA and FOB are the next three, none of them have flown yet so another few weeks for the next lot.

Just noticed this westbound out of knock, N922WC.

3 US Gulfstream (400/500/650) out of EIKN that afternoon, returning to KMMU New Jersey and KHPN Westchester NY.

Also Midland ERJ145 and Eastern Jetstream out of EGLF and Netjets operated EGJB. Unusually busy days for private charter at NOC, may have been a conference for one of the Pharmaceuticals.

Off the West coast heading for EMA is DHL B763 G-DHLH. It has descended to FL200 though, I wonder is something amiss....

looks to be heading for Dublin, FL19 now.

maybe its destination is EMA but stopping off for a drop in Dublin?

on second thoughts, is staying at the same altitude and speed is 400 knots so must be just passing over, but is unusually low. maybe heading into Liverpool?

Will be interesting to see if passenger luggage was a cause of the injuries.

Video of the fire and evacuation, and yes some pax with bags and carry cases.

Check out the jump from the forward doorway by one of the crew @1:17, literally hits the ground running :D

Is it just me or did the fire personnell take a lot longer to get to the aircraft than the BA in Vegas? And the fire seemed to be going a lot quicker  Very glad all were ok.

I thought the same at first but just 2 mins into that video they were spraying foam, and I can't imagine the fire had been going to long before that as at the start they only have one shoot open and the engines still running.

Another pilot reported to atc that he seen fuel leaking from the plane before the fire so that would explain why it took hold so quickly.

You're probably right! You hear the other pilot's atc?

Is it the other aircraft's pilot who also shouts out "ENGINE ON FIRE ENGINE ON FIRE!"?

Just a random observation. I see Norwegian B738 overhead operating EDI-TFS using a IBK ICAO code. Turns out this is Irish registered operator, with callsign "Nortrans", rather than the usual Nor Shuttle callsign

Didn't know where to post this and didn't want to create a new thread, but does anyone know why Aer Lingus flight EI154 out of Dublin to Heathrow tomorrow morning has been cancelled? Cheers.

Been hearing controllers all across Europe getting confused and either calling them Norshuttle even though they are Nortrans, or else calling them 'India Bravo Kilo xxx'!

Was thinking the same, but wasn't sure.
Already hazy at 5000m, under 2000m (afaik) LVP's come into force, meaning aircraft have to have further space between them. In turn causing delays and diversions.

    LGW: Fog 800m
STN: Fog 100m - According to SNN atc, RWY22 has 1300m Visibility. (SNN-STN requested weather at STN)
    LTN: Mist 3500m
    SEN: Fog 500m
    LCY: Mist 3200m

I don't have RVR's as UK airports don't publish them in their metars.

Also to note, SNN has some shallow fog at the 06 threshold put nothing that would affect operations.
    Dublin misty 3000m
