Get the passengers off, taxi somewhere else and then check for a fire :)

Or for whatever triggered the alarm

VOR approach requested at DUB, why might a pilot do this? (ILS is available)

Could be part of a Line Check or training. Sometimes the core skills get rusty and it's better to have practiced a non precision approach in good weather rather than wait to do it for real in poor weather.

FOG 800m at ORK and worsening. It's only a temporary forecast though so it may be patchy fog.

Kilrush Lifeboat reporting that they were on standby for the Aeromexico, is thus standard procedure?

Fog at Cork 150m visibility, which is too low to legally make an approach. Next arrival is in 28 minutes.

Is the ILS still out of operation or was it just the calibration that day? Any idea of the RVRs?

Also my app Aero Weather doesn't provide RVR's afaik.

Yes in the event of a ditching all assets would be called on, if you get them ready you are saving valuable time if the transit is long.

Fire on an aircraft is VERY serious as such this emergency would have been taken very seriously.

    METAR: EICK 291700Z 16009KT 0100 R17/0275N R35/0225N -DZ FG VV001 15/15
    Q1016 NOSIG

The highlighted bits are RVR for the runway ie On runway 17 the RVR is 275 meters, the N indicates NO change.

Eh .... Strange question but how would anyone know or does anybody here know what plane Taylor Swift is coming in on today?

    N898TS landed Dublin 15:00 today

    http://fr24.com/2015-06-29/13:35/12x/BLOCKED/6a99952

Don't worry, I did all my Googling for 'Taylor Swift' in a private tab.
